^^That would suck if it ended in round one.

After the Hatton fight, I was happy, but kinda pissed. I thought that it would've been way more competitive. I was left wit two thoughts: "Holy ****!" and "That's it?"
Agree on everything you said. I don't mind a catch weight too much, it makes it a little more fair because Manny isn't a big Welterweight, but since Manny felt confident he could get in there with a 147 Cotto they should have let him do it. At the end of the day I don't see weight being a major factor at all in this fight though. Cotto just has to take an extra dump or miss an extra meal, work out just a little harder, or whatever he needs to do to get to 145. Hopefully it won't be a big deal for him and he's as healthy as usual.

        3. Can get hit with the overhand right.

The first on the list well we can rule out since Pac isn't known for throwing many uppercuts, and let alone devastating uppercuts that will knock Cotto TFO. That leaves #2, can Pac take Cotto's punches!? This is something that has been argued over and over again on NSB, and I respect everyone's opinions BUT I will say he has never been in the ring with a heavy hitter like Cotto that is for sure. Finally, that leaves #3...I think this could be a good weapon for Pac, but I just don't see it getting threw Cotto's defenses that much to be effective.

All in all, could Pac win this fight!? I certainly agree, but he would have to take the Calderon approach, and be VERY careful while doing it. Again, Roach knows Cotto's habits but the thing is...it is impossible for Roach to teach a fighter after all these years how to throw a devastating uppercut, how to take a punch (which cannot be taught), and how to penetrate a good defense against a fighter like Cotto. Can it happen though!? Anything can happen in boxing!
        1) pac has knocked a dude w/ an uppercut before... I think it was 3k battery... also pac is throwing a lot of uppercuts on the pads

        2) pac probably won't be able to take cotto's punches

        3) cotto will be open for the hook to the temple... the same punch that corley wobbled cotto with.

            1. Didn't say that he hadn't used it before...it is just something that he doesn't use very often.
            2. We don't know that yet!
            3. Any fighter can get hit with something any day.

Anywayz whoever wins deserves our respect. Nothing better than the best fighting each other.
Cotto is strong as an ox, no doubt. I'm not sure who hits harder between Porter and Cotto either, but Shawn has fought guys as heavy as 170 (his pro debut), has apparently knocked out heavyweights, he looks a little faster than Cotto, too, and along with the extra weight combined with Porter's very good speed (I think he's faster than Miguel) I would guess he hits pretty damn hard.

The difference is though, he's sparred Porter with headgear on. However, even with headgear it's not impossible to get knocked out in the gym, he should be feeling those blows of an 165+ lb guy, possibly heavier. Porter's HUGE!

Shawn only had 10 pro fights so far, but his amateur background is really solid. 280 amateur fights, World Golden Gloves champ, US National champ, 2008 Olympic alternate, etc. This kid knows how to punch properly by now. Also spars with Dawson and Pavlik.

Porter was a great choice for a sparring partner. Like you said, dude is big, I was glad to see Pacquiao gettin' roughed up in there, hopefully it helps him get used to those heavier shots.

If he spared with Pavlik doesn't that mean Pac can also go up to 160 o.o

Yeah I will give Roach that...he picked a great sparring partner in Porter! If Pac has adjusted to his power he might be able to adjust to Cotto's. With that said, I am glad that Cotto can also box.
