You know what, I'm gonna guess he can and will take Cotto's power. Obviously, the reason for having Manny spar with Shawn Porter was to get him used to absorbing and dealing with shots from somebody heavier than Cotto. I know it's only sparring, but we hear that he's been mostly getting the best of Shawn, except of course for that first spar session where Shawn gave him a few problems.

Again, yep, it's only sparring, and Shawn Porter isn't Cotto, but if he can handle a faster, heavier guy I don't think he'll have too many problems.

Could be wrong. Could be all over in a flash! But Roach and Pacquiao are not ******, they have prepared for heavy punches by using a guy who far outweighs Cotto.

Way back before this fight was announced, when Manny was about to fight Hatton, I suggested Manny spar with Michael Moorer. Don't laugh. No way would I suggest Moorer put a ton of force behind his punches, but wrestle Manny, rough him up a little like we expected Hatton to try and do, give him some semi-heavy shots to deal with. I said if Manny can survive Moorer on 50% power he would deal with Hatton like he was fighting a school kid.

Their preparation for this fight wasn't so drastic as my suggestion, but I think they've done exactly the right thing by employing Shawn Porter, who apparently has given Pacquiao some really great work. The way to deal with someone more powerful than you is is to train with someone possibly more powerful than the actual guy you'll be facing, which is exactly what he's been doing for the last 2 months.

I sure hope he can take them. Pac's last three wins were great, but if he beats Cotto convincingly, that would be even better.

I just wish they didn't ask for a catchweight, because while I don't think it'll determine the outcome of the fight, it kinda dampers the win, should he beat Cotto.

^^That would suck if it ended in round one.

After the Hatton fight, I was happy, but kinda pissed. I thought that it would've been way more competitive. After that fight, I was left with two thoughts: "Holy ****!" and "That's it?"

If Pac beats Cotto decisively then Pac is indeed a legend. I also agree that Pac's team should have fought Cotto at 147 since it would mean a lot more. There would be no excuses!

I kind of agree with you on the power thing, but there have been many fighters that say that Miguel hits REALLY hard. I don't know who is stronger, Cotto or Porter, but I do think that Cotto's power along with his great timing can be a factor. I won't play out the timing thing anymore though!!! Anywayz whoever wins deserves our respect. Nothing better than the best fighting each other.

Pacquiao has a damn good left uppercut and has knocked fighters out from it.
