That's the point though, Hopkins will land more clean effective punches and he will be very hard to hit with more than one good punch. But his activity level and aggression is too low against fighters like Dawson, who offers the same speed and activity as Talyor and Calzaghe.
Hopkins would beat Chad Dawson

Don't get me wrong, Hopkins is really accurate, even more than Chad but he won't be too active, and that would be a problem to him. He had target practice with Pavlik because Kelly has poor footwork and below average speed. He needs to be active in order to beat Chad and Chad has great footwork, handspeed and throws very nice combos. I don't think Chad would totally dominate B-Hop but I really think he might be able to win a clear UD.Comment

Wtf? Dawson fights in spurts for at most 30 seconds to 1 minute of the rounds. Calzaghe keeps throwing till after the bell. If Calzaghe had Dawsons workrate Hopkis would have won a lopsided UD.That's the point though, Hopkins will land more clean effective punches and he will be very hard to hit with more than one good punch. It's a horrible comparison.
In terms of punch output and speed?
Calzaghe's punch output is lightyears beyond Dawson's. He worked every minute, of every round, and always had the stamina for the full 12.
Dawson starts fast, but slows down considerably as the fight wears on, and often times just takes rounds off to do "fuck all".
The speed is comparable, but Calzaghe was lightyears beyond Chad in terms of workrate, consistency, and level of opposition.
When did Chad Dawson become a high workrate fighter, all of a sudden?Comment

Johnson was tailor made for Dawson tonight just like Pavlik was against Hopkins, and Pavlik has a way better jab than Johnson does. People really need to analyze this match up before they pick Dawson to win. He's not this devastating fighter that you all make him to be. I feel bad about writing Johnson off and in turn discrediting Dawson's victory. Because I made a last minute change in my opinion about who would win the fight because of Glen coming in at 173. But he's not the same guy who KOd Roy Jones and fought two tough fights with Tarver and TKOd Montell Griffin. He is likely done at the top level. I'll keep rooting for him though.Don't get me wrong, Hopkins is really accurate, even more than Chad but he won't be too active, and that would be a problem to him. No doubt, but considering Hopkins focuses more on accuracy than consistency, I still think Dawson gives him trouble with his combinations and speed. Taylor doesn't have Calzaghe's constant workrate either, but it didn't stop him from beating Hokins twice, despite the close decisions.Comment

Or he could just show Chad lots of angles, counterpunch the hell out of him, and really bust him up in the clinch.Don't get me wrong, Hopkins is really accurate, even more than Chad but he won't be too active, and that would be a problem to him. We all saw how badly Chad hates the clinch in the first Johnson fight. Everytime Glen roughed him up he had the look of a child who'd just been caught masturbating.
And Johnson isn't half the inside fighter Hopkins is. ****, just ask Johnson himself.
