If there is one man in Boxing history that deserves it it's Rocky Marciano.

The guy best wins came against great fighters at the very end of their long and grueling carrers. Before that he beat a lot of bums.
Here's a post that I can agree with 100%. The only reason he was unbeaten was because the former greats were so far deteriorated that they'd come down to his low level, which made good, competitive fights. In fact he won a fight which the judges called a draw, by the ref's choice. What a convenient system. I don't know how many times he fought and KO'd his brother, who was fighting him under different names.

And, the records of the opponents his opponents fought were as bad as they can get. Beyond bad.

          And I can prove it...

If I were to be able to chose a commemoration for a fighter, I would pick that shamefully wronged pioneer Jack Johnson.

holdon mariano fought bums all his life, he is a great heavyweight fighter, buts there atleast 5-8 boxers alot better than him.

what about Ali, floyd patterson, sonny liston, george foreman, joe frazier, JOE LOUIS.

its good thing but they choose the wrong person, was it more the fact marciano is white that they decided to go with him. just pointing out the obvious, due to the fact that he isnt even in the 10 top of all time HW, people like Ali done alot more charity and work outside the ring.

WBC doing something nice to cover up all the bull**** and corruption by building a statue of a much-loved champion. No thank you.

lol same here. And the guy who posted above my first post who said Rocky fought bums his entire career, then still puts him in the top 10.

How far gone were Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles and Jersey Joe Walcott?

Marciano received a split decision over Roland LaStarza the first time due to a knockdown he scored. In the case of a draw, as the referee had it, the fighter who scored a knockdown would receive the decision in supplemental scoring.

Rocky "avenged" the controversy years later with a decisive TKO win.
