  • If Jones is fighting a tough opponent his own size, why can't Hopkins?

On December 2, Roy Jones Jr will be facing former light heavyweight world titleholder Danny Green in Australia.

Props to ATG Roy Jones for going to Australia to fight a dangerous opponent who's recently been fighting at cruiserweight!

However, Bernard Hopkins is fighting in the US against a middleweight journeyman. :gay:

Why? Why didn't he choose to fight someone who's his own size and as dangerous as Danny Green?

Green a tough opponent that would trouble Hopkins, ok.

danny green isnt dangerous.. and even if he was, roy is fighting for history trying to get a belt at 200lbs.. hopkins is just fighting a tune up for his clash with jones.. anyone who would hold it against him is a ******ed hater.

He's much stronger and definitely better skilled than the middleweight clubfighter Hopkins will be facing.

Fight was made at the last minute. Everyone at 168 that is worth a damn is tied up right now. 6 guys with super six, Bute-andrade are tied up facing each other, Allen green just fought as did miranda. Dawson and Johnson are tied up at 175, Tarver is retired, Cloud just fought as did Diancou and Pascal.

So from 160-175...name me a top guy that isnt tied up that b-hop could face in december given such a short notice?

Green isn't great, but he isn't bad either. He can punch, and he'll have home advantage in Australia.

Props to Roy Jones Jr for being courageous enough to fight in a foreign country! Hopkins has been afraid to leave the US ever since he was knocked down TWICE in a draw with Segundo Mercado in a fight in South America.

i hope you know that hopkins is 45 years old. yet you are bitching about why he wont fight a tougher opponent when its already tough even fighting at 45 and in top contention.

A fight could have been arranged several weeks ago, short notice is no excuse. There are plenty of light heavyweights at least as good as the middleweight clubfighter looking for a fight, look through the names:

Why not Tavoris Cloud? His last fight was in August, and he was willing to fight again around early December. Or is he too dangerous?

And there's lots of cruiserweights looking for a fight (G. Jones, Tokarev, Ross, etc). Tomasz Adamek wanted to fight B-Hop. Why does Hopkins nearly always look to smaller weight divisions for opponents?

The Jones-Green fight was already in place BEFORE Hopkins and Jones agreed to fight. Plus Jones already fought a couple bums prior. Hopkins hasn't fought in over a year, is 45 years old, and simply needs a tune up to shake the ring rust. Jones has also been pretty active.

Also I don't know what options were in place for hopkins. He needed to sign a fight quick, or he would have lost his #1 ranking at LH.

He hasn't fought a light heavyweight since Tarver, so he should have already lost that ranking.

                    Pavlik - middleweight
                    Calzaghe - super middleweight
                    Wright - light middleweight
