And there's lots of cruiserweights looking for a fight (G. Jones, Tokarev, Ross, etc). Tomasz Adamek wanted to fight B-Hop. Why does Hopkins nearly always look to smaller weight divisions for opponents?
Tavoris Cloud isn't a tune up fight for anyone. Especially if your 45 years old. That's not the type of guy you'd want to fight as a tune up.

The Adamek fight both hopkins and Adamek agreed to fight. The problem was with HBO. They were late on releasing their budget for 2010, so HBO couldn't confirm the fight. Adamek didn't want to wait around and he had the opportunity to make some real good money against Golota, so Adamek took it. You cant blame Adamek there and you certainly cant blame hopkins.

Anyways, at the end of the day this is a tune up fight for a guy who hasn't fought in over a year and is 45 years old. You shouldn't complain much. I mean Cotto has his Jennings & Gomez, Paul Williams has his Ande Kolles, etc. There called tune up fights for a reason.

Jennings and Gomez were both in the same welterweight division as Cotto. Williams actually moved up in weight to face Kolles.

Cotto and Williams didn't choose lightweight clubfighters (two divisions down) as their comeback opponents.

And although JMM was a lightweight, Mayweather at least chose a top fighter not a clubfighter as his tune-up.

First off, hopkins' opponent is a 168 pound fighter, so he's not "two divisions down." His last fight was at 168 and he's had like 20 fights at 168 so it's not like he's picking on some midget the guy is arguably bigger than bhop himself

Second, Gomez, Jennings & andy kolle to a lesser extents were all joke fights. I mean they were no hopers and everyone knew it. Doesn't matter about weight class when it's a tune up fight. And all of those fights were on HBO or PPV!

Is hopkins trying to prove anything by winning this fight? Nope. It's sole purpose is to shake the ring rust and hopefully look good in the process.

Plus, Enrique Ornelas has a relationship with Bernard Hopkins & Golden Boy. He's been used as one of Hopkins' sparring partners for years now. I'm sure that's part of it - here is a guy hopkins knows, knows what this guy brings to the table, etc. Again, you're bitching and moaning about a tune up fight. Who really cares? It's not like this is on PPV or HBO, this is on FREE TV and it's a charity event.

And please don't even bring Mayweather up. Mayweathers tune up fight was on PPV for $50 and was sold to the public as "number 1" meaning whoever wins will be pound 4 pound #1. So that's bull****. Hopkins is at least honest about his tune up, he's not trying to fool anyone.

Props to ATG Roy Jones for going to Australia to fight a dangerous opponent who's recently been fighting at cruiserweight!

However, Bernard Hopkins is fighting in the US against a middleweight journeyman. :gay:

Why? Why didn't he choose to fight someone who's his own size and as dangerous as Danny Green?
          isn't green semi-retired?

The fight is a tuneup, his choice of opponent shouldn't matter.

It's a tune up so Hopkins can fight whoever he wants. A tune up ain't supposed to be against stiff competition. It's basically a fight to get back in fighting shape, simple as that.

only if you donate an officially autographed pair of nard's skid mark drawers ...you know the ones he used to squeeze into when he was a lightheavy scaling down to middle....you should be able to handle that being that you were responsible for washing them...

Danny Green may be a tougher opponent than Enrique, but Hopkins would beat him. And like somebody just said, Jones has had the luxury of being active. Which that is something he deserves credit for despite how sorry he looked against Calzaghe. Hopkins didn't really have any options for big fights out there because Dawson was obligated to give Tarver a rematch, and after he beat Tarver he took a 9 month layoff.
