Now that the fight probably won't go down, if Paul Williams has a pair he should really push back the date of Nov. and fight Clottey. If Paul cannot fight someone legit for the Nov. date and decides to push the date back and still avoid Clottey then just some cowardly ***** **** for Paul.
first off you tool, the fight date is sceduled for december 5th, not November!

second, Paul nor Goosen determine the date... HBO DOES!!!!

third, HBO doesn't have anymore open dates in december for fights so it would get pushed to early january if they had to rescedule and HBO is not going to do that for Clottey or Paul!!!

I agree with Clottey. I wouldn't fight an opponent the caliber of Paul Williams with only 5 weeks to train.

If you fight the elite you need 8 weeks to adequately prepare. Hopefully he doesn't get hated on for this. He made the right move.

650K is NOT alot of money considering he'll be sacrificing his career on a fourth loss for a short notice fight. Remember, losses are very crucial in boxing. It's a surprise that Clottey has been relevent due to him having 3 losses (I'm not discrediting Clotteys skill and caliber, just on paper to the casual eye is not impressive).

Maybe I am missing something. But hasn't it been Clottey that's been calling out PWill and not the other way around? And don't give me the 8 week crap. They were fighting on the same night. So that means they both still have an equal amount of time to prepare. Williams was fighting at 160 and Clottey was fighting at 154. While Williams was training for a conventional fighter, Clottey was training for a southpaw. Not to mention Williams had 2 dates pushed back for the middleweight champ. Clottey brings no titles to the table. He can either take the $650k for a fight on short notice or take considerably less for his next fight where he is well prepared. What people don't realize is this isnt the first time Clottey has priced himself out of a fight with PDub.

What's funny is how the Clottey apologists are basically admitting the guy can't beat Paul. I don't hear anyone whining about how Williams has only five weeks to prepare for Josh.

Clotteys to defensive to beat Williams, it'll be Winky all over again. But if you're a top level fighter preparing for a top level fight, no matter what, you'll want more than 5 weeks to train, even if you're opponent gets the same time to train.

Crazy. I thought he would have made at least $800K from that.
That is pretty ridiculous. Clottey would bet right under the Cotto-Mosley-Mayweather triad at Welter, but dude gets WAY LESS recognition and respect. Partially his fault, but it's still shocking..

So if they both have the same preparation time, whats the problem? I mean who is checking for Clottey? Losing to Paul Williams isn't a career ender for Clottey or anyone else. But sitting on your ass not fighting, without a fight on the horizon, and turning down $650k is ridiculous. I have told Paul and his manager on SEVERAL occasion that if he gave me 4 weeks to lose my weight I would fight him. And right now I am 230lbs and I wouldnt need a catch weight.

I really cannot defend Clottey in this, Am trying to find a reason to back him or defend him on this but cant..Simple.

HBO has never been interested in a Williams/Clottey fight from the begining but since Clottey fought Cotto on HBO that has helped him enough for HBO to be interested in having him back on with Williams.

The problem is for this fight to happen according to Clottey he would have to wait till february or March because HBO has commit themselves to Mosley and by March we would have people like Mayweather,Cotto,Pacquiao or Hopkins who would be ready for their next turn of fights so where would that leave someone like Clottey??
