That's if Cotto can get to Pac easily like he did against Margo. Pac found out to his pleasant surprise that it's more fun to hit and not get hit back in return just recently. If a slow as molasses like Margarito can get to Cotto with ease, what more if it was a speedy Pac? The accumulation of punches will take its toll and will eventually break you down, even if it's a pitty-patty punch (a lot of peeps are doubting that Pac can't hurt Cotto), just go ask Calzaghe's previous opponents, specially Jeff Lacy...
COTTO QUIT for his OWN BENEFIT, will he quit again?

I wish more boxers in the past didn't pander to the fears of fan pressure and were clever enough to quit when they were taking a hefty beating. Long term health/family/being able to fight another day is a lot more important than the selfish opinions of blood thirsty fans, most of which wouldn't have the balls to step into a ring.
Cotto was battered and bloody and would have only sustained more punishment had he stayed in the fight for the other 3 minutes. And 3 minutes is very much long enough for shots from a power puncher like Margarito to prove health threatening or even life threatening. This criticism of fighters quitting is sickening.
I can in some sense understand criticism to fighters who just can't be arsed, who know they are down on the score cards and just don't want to continue, but it's their call. Cotto had more than a legitimate reason for ending that fight anyone who saw him, saw those last rounds, know the state he was in.
And I'm glad he knew his limits and ended the fight, because if he fought on, we might've not been looking forward to a Welterweight clash on Nov 14th.Last edited by Grimmer; 10-28-2009, 07:55 AM.Comment

Of course it's for his own benefit. It's his ass in the ring taking shots, not yours. What, he's gonna get permanent damage for your ****** ass? So you can jack off on your computer talking about how he got knocked unconscious.
Cotto is a warrior. Most of us here are just critics. Big difference.Comment

Cotto made the statement , I QUIT FOR MY OWN BENEFIT !
What does that mean in the boxing world ?
Answer: He will QUIT again !
He is hoping he won't go back to the place Margo took him, its always easier to QUIT QUICKER the next time.
This principle has been proven in Life many times many ways.
Pacmang will take Cotto to the unknown zone after 7 and Cotto will QUIT. The only thing to stop it is a lucky punch by Cotto or Cotto gets KO'd early.Comment

You serious? Erik Morales was seeing stars and good thing Kenny Bayless caught him behind the neck when he tried to stand up on his own accord and almost fell backwards again. Morales is a fighter, if he can hide the fact that he's really hurt and can't continue, he will...
Cotto, on the other hand, was a battered, swollen, bloody mess who was too strong to get KTFO but taking a life-threatening beating.
But only one of them quit.
I swear, the horse**** you read on this board sometimes...Comment
