He is simply saying that he doesn't think Kessler is as good as what people make out, I don't see anything wrong with that.

Hopkins is one of the best fighters of this era who holds wins over the likes of Trinidad, DLH, Wright, Pavlik, Tarver, etc. Hopkins was the underdog against Trinidad, Wright, Tarver and Pavlik and was in his 40s when he beat Tarver, Wright and Pavlik.

He is a 2 division champ (middleweight and light heavyweight) and reigned as middleweight champ for 9 years defending his title 20 times and unifed all the titles at 160.

Kessler is a two time super middleweight champion who holds wins over Andrade, Beyer and Mundine.

see, there is no comparison at this stage.

I ain't denying that Kessler has got skills though, he will likely win the tourney imo also.

I thought Wright was doing well until the intentional head-butt from B-Hop that opened a nasty cut over Winky's eye and distracted him for the rest of the fight.

Hopkins did win a close decision, but I think would have lost to the smaller man if he hadn't cheated.

According to compubox, Winky outlanded him by 20 punches. So I think its safe to say that the decision was a robbery. Had it been 115-113 or 115-114 I could accept it, but 117-111 and 116-112??! No ***ing way!

Honestly can you imagine what would happen if Calzaghe faced Oscar and Trinidiad, people would think he was a joke, some reason Bhop gets a free pass

He beat Tarver a guy his own size and remeber this was Tarver who had to lose alot of weight from filming a Rocky movie, what has Tarver done since too ?

The other 3 GOOD fighters his size he got his ass kicked by, we seen how Great Jermain Taylor is recently too

Hopkins never fought any lightweights or welterweights.

He fought Tito at 160 who was a natural 154 at that stage, he proved he was a legit middleweight by KOing Joppy in 5. Not even Hopkins could accomplish that and he left Joppy's face looking like it was hit repeatedly with a baseball bat.

he fought DLH at a catchweight of 156 which was two pounds shy of where DLH was natural at, at that stage in his career.

Wright was a middleweight at that stage in his career and was picked as the favourite to beat Hopkins regardless of the fact that he was putting on 10 pounds, That shows you how good Wright was.

Kessler joining the tourney was the best thing he could do. Now he will actually have fighters on his record worth mentioning.

Andrade is the only fighter worth mentioning on Kessler's resume currently.

Hopkins is the best there is, the best there was and the best every Middleweight since Marvin Hagler.

LOL This is the problem, Hopkins is one of the most overrated fighters in recent memory.

If you're being unbias you have to admit that not only is he nowhere near an all-time great, but had he come along 88-95 he probably wouldn't have held a title.

Jones Jr, Toney, Mccallum, Jackson, Mcclellan, Eubank, Benn, Watson, Collins & i'm sure i'm forgetting a couple.

If Hopkins had problem with the pressure and activity of someone like Taylor (massivly overrated himself) what do you think someone like Mcclellan or Benn would do to him.
Of the above listed fighters, prime for prime, who would you seriously favor Hopkins against??

His Middleweight Reign was a joke, 3 X Allen, 2X Echols. Now most were at least willing to admit that a few years ago.

Then the Trinidad and Oscar fights, again even his biggest fans were willing to admit that it wasn't as big an accomplishment as it's been made out to be.

But ever since Tarver Winky & Pavlik people make him out to be a All-Time great with some sort of Harry Potter Defence that not even Genghis Khan could penetrate.

Winky was again undersized, low-workrate, low pressure fighter

Tarver (overrated too) and lost how much weight coming off his Rocky 6 appearance

Pavlik - bronchitis & elbow injury

Now these are great matchups for Hopkins along with added things going his way, all the stars being aligned, people need to come back down to earth & stop the b-hop worship.

And about his defense, In comparision to James Toney, Bernard is Carl Froch. He has a very good D but certainly isn't the best of his generation and his is no where near the old school greats that he idolizes.

He's smart career wise, reign in possibly the worst middleweight era ever, as an oversized middleweight. Beat 2 good welterweights and choose some smart matchups when he moves up. Smoke & mirrors, nothing else.
