He was only 2 points down at the end of the fight + he addapted and won last round toe to toe and won the first half of the fight pretty clear.

To me he lost a close one.

coming from someone who loves kessler, yes he was outclassed...

he was a young prime fighter who was convincingly beated by one of the all-time great super-middles...no shame in that...

but give me a break if you think kessler made it a "close" fight...he fought respectable, for sure...but he got beat convincingly...

I know the question wasn't for me but i had Calzaghe winnin by 2 - 3 rounds don't remember it well; Kessler started well and ended wel; but in the middle that's where he lost.

How is it that in a division full of so much potential, that just a couple years ago it was easily the most overlooked weightclass in boxing make a complete 360 turn a round and easily be one of the most talented today?

And yet with all these great contenders out there and possible match-ups waiting to happen, that The number 1 rank easliy outclasses every single individual including rank 2-10? To the point where in this tournament before Kessler even fought that he is such a huge favorite to easily beat every single fighter with one handtied behind his back?

All i'm sayin is Kessler ain't no Ali. The only time he's ever been tested was his debut on HBO against an oppenent who ranks in the top 10 most overrated fighters of all time in Calzaghe, and he was outclassed!

You people need to revaluate Kessler a lil bit...
That's funny. Haven't heard one person making the Ali comparison but you nor do I see him get overrated. Do you see him rated in The Ring's P4P list or any other serious publication? If so, I haven't see it, or anything else that drastically overrates him skills like you are saying.

Also, I see many people picking him to win it, but rarely do you see someone say it 'with ease' or completely outclasses everyone else. In fact, he'll get tough fights from Abraham and Ward. Some people will even say Froch and Dirrell will give him trouble.

BTW, his debut on HBO was aginst Librado Andrade, not Joe Calzaghe.

Nope Kess is the real deal.......he lost to maybe the best SMW of all time in a competitive fight that he clearly lose but in my view did better than anyone else in the S6 could have done against Joe ...Joe was the truth, and Kessler doing as well as he did even in defeat proves his merit.

I agree with this. Kessler was competitive throughout and it was close IMO going into the last four rounds or so, but Calzaghe adjusted and took over the fight.

He's certainly overrated, but not because he lost to Calzaghe. His competition hasn't been good enough to rate him as high as a lot people do.

He lost to Calzaghe, but it's not like Calzaghe destroyed him or anything. This tournament will obviously show a lot, but he was the 2nd best super middleweight in the world while Calzaghe was there, and once Joe retired Kessler became the man at 168. That's how he's viewed really, nothing more.

Not Once did I discredit Kessler.

All I said was I think he's overrated.

Majority of you say he's the favorite due to his experience.

I personally think aside from Calzaghe, who beat Kessler, that every single person in the super 6 is better than everyone on Kessler's Resume.

Didn't once say they were better than him tho.

Hey he could win it all, I also agree he earned his spot as number 1 in SMW,

But why does that automatically mean that when matched up against a
