From all accounts, Burley was a great boxer who was never given a shot because he was so good and because of his African-American background. Nevertheless, this list isn't quite my cup of tea. I would love to hear how Ricardo Lopez got that high up and Roy Jones that low. Should be a great case study in the contradictions of man.

What amazes me is that he thinks Michael Spinks is not a Top 100 fighter.

Berts list includes fighters over the whole history of boxing. Not just fighters from the 90's and 00's. Most of the fighters he has on his list non of us have ever seen fight. These guys are rated on they're over all skill, heart, smarts, etc. Jones is definetly one of the most talented to ever lace up but he's not the toughest guy. How would he fair up with guys just as fast or better reflexes than him? People need to think about this.

Makes sense but I'd like to know his criteria. Ricardo Lopez certainly jumps out, as does a few other names. Somehow I don't think your reasoning is in line with his, given the order.

roy was very tough, and very few if any fighters in history had his speed and reflexes. skill, heart and smarts all combined and roy deserves way better than 88th! top 30 fighter for sure.

I don't know why you guys put so much stock into what Bert Sugar says ; he's just like every other boxing Historian that ever lived.

He's basically a paid opinionist. His opinion isn't any more valuable than yours.

Apart from that ; he's clearly a bitter old prick who has a bias towards fighters from decades ago. He's proven this on many occasions by refusing to give modern fighters their just due.

                    Aaron Pryor, better than Hopkins?

I like Aaron, but the dude has one solid "name" opponet on his record. Without Arguello, Pryor likely wouldn't even make the cut.
