^^^ this, I think that maybe if those areas of the world particularly Eastern Europe were never communists, then some of the ATG HWs could possibly have never been.....we will never know for sure but since they do compete now we have an influx of good fighters from that area of the world. Why would it have been different if they always competed back in the 50's, 60's, or 70's?
My dwindling hope for an American Heavyweight Champ.

The Klits are untouchable right now IMO.
However, anyone who thinks that this is not due to the fact that the Larger American Athletes just aren't into boxing anymore have got to be out of their minds.
It just makes more sense to choose the NFL/NBA/Baseball over boxing
No politics i.e. nobody cares what they look like, no promoters, no "fixes"
What does the average HW boxer make????
What does the average pro athlete make???Comment

No need for the hate. I began this thread as a discussion not a diss to the klitschko brothers. They are great champions. You call me ****** because i have pride in my country men. I think any boxing fan is guilty of that. Im sure you have run across a few americans that make you think less of us as a culture. But your bashing is unwarranted. I did not intend for this to be a pissing contest. I simply wanted to discuss something of interest to me instead of endless spam threads on juvenile topics. So can we discuss like adults?Comment

Don't see why this is such a big deal. Even when HW was still the glamor division of boxing there was still other **** goin on the sport obviously. HW boxing as a whole just ain't that excitin these days. Got nothin to do wit the top guys bein non Americans. Even if they were US fighters, they'd need to be excitin to get people to care. Most HW fights just ain't right now.Comment

You do realise that most of the top American heavyweights from the past won Olympic medals against much more experienced eastern euro fighters so that’s really an invalid point. Foreman, Ali, Patterson, Spinks, Bowe etc etc all won Olympic medals when they were very young.Comment

IMO they should dump the cruiserweight division, Imagine if Mormeck vs Bell 1,2 had been for a heavyweight title those fights would have been massive but because its at cruiserweight no one cares, imo if you want to watch exciting heavyweights watch the cruiserweight division. Maybe they could return the name of cruiserweight back to junior heavyweight or something but cruiserweight is where the good big fighter fights are at these days.Comment

Scrapping it altogether is a horrible idea, we need a class between LHW-HW. It was created for good reason, its unfair for a 195lb man to have to compete with a 240lb man. maybe the limit should be put back at 190 and HW capped off some so of these slouches have to come in, in shape or lose money.IMO they should dump the cruiserweight division, Imagine if Mormeck vs Bell 1,2 had been for a heavyweight title those fights would have been massive but because its at cruiserweight no one cares, imo if you want to watch exciting heavyweights watch the cruiserweight division. Well back in the pre war days, guys like Jack Dempsey and Joe Louis used to fight big 240lb heavyweights like Willard and Carnera. Louis was 196lb to Carnera's 260lb and Carnera fell just as easy as any of Louis smaller opponents. The problem is there are not actually that many good fighters above 220lb outside Wlad and Vitali almost all the 220+ heavyweights could come in at around the cruiserweight limit but are just fat. Adamek and Chambers both beat men much bigger than them self’s and both could come in at around 195lb. I say either like you say reduce the cruiserweight limit to 190lb or scrap it completely. After all most cruiserweight champions moves up to heavyweight at some point.Scrapping it altogether is a horrible idea, we need a class between LHW-HW.
