My dwindling hope for an American Heavyweight Champ.

Has anyone seen a recent trend?

Vitali seems to be out to knockout every american he can right now.
I meen a fight with Kevin Johnson? Seriously? The Arreola fight i was with. Hell i was hoping for Arreola to get that one punch but Vitali was WAY too much for him.

But Kevin Johnson? Last time i saw him fight was against a young Devin Vargas which Devin took on short notice. Johnson won by KO but it was less than impressive like his record.

Whats to blame? Athletes funneling elsewhere like football and basketball? doubt it.
Lack of talent? I like to think we can breed a well rounded athlete

I believe it is lack of exposure that boxing has in the media today in America.

Growing up with Tyson and Roy Jones i remember highlights on espn. I remember watching live fights almost like 3 times a week. Now the only time boxing gets air time is if Mayweather is mouthing off at Brian Kenny or there is a good knockout like Hatton/Pacquiao. Espn showed highlights of the Marquez/Mayweather but only one night. Plus take a look at the super 6 tourny. This is HUGE in boxing and it gets NO media attention. Maybe due to us being 0-2 right now.

If you dont agree take a look at eastern europe and germany...Huge boxing scene there now and the talent is showing(Klitschkos, Abraham, Adamek, etc.)

A word to my fellow Americans. If we want boxers we can not just hope for a boxing messiah who came out of the womb and knocking out doctors and nurses. We have to develop our athletes and spread the word of boxing. It was successful in the past and would be for the future.

Klit rushed to fight Johnson, that what he does, he tries to get to fighters while their still green, knowing their not ready.

Like Lennox Lewis and Corey Sanders? You used to say he just fought old men.

What about JC Gomez, Kirk Johnson, Danny Williams and Sam Peter?

Exactly what age do his opponents need to be?

                Weak excuse.

The truth is, the European heavyweights are GOOD.

                    Kevin Johnson
                    Age:30
                    22(9)-0-1
I wouldnt say green. I think he is just a paper chump. He is undefeated and american so Klitschko wants to kill him. He wont win on points because i doubt he has the stamina. This is a huge mismatch. Kevin has nothing over Klitschko.
