How can you not give Cotto credit if he beats Pacquiao

It's damn obvious that Pacquiao is the better weight jumper. He is actually improving as oppose to losing anything, when moving up.

Marquez had what, one fight maybe two fights above 130? Pacquaio has been fighting above that weight for a while now. Not to mention Marquez really will never fill out to a 147lb frame. Pac has filled out rather nice, especially at 140(fights only 5 pounds above that). Not to mention as much as I hate to say it, Pacquaio is just simply better than Juan. Its a different situation imo.

yeah, pac is better than jmm, but that doesn't mean pac has any business fighting cotto who will outweight pac by 10+ lbs.

If Cotto simply blows Pac out, zero credit. It just means Pac ain't a true full size WW. Which I already know that because he looked like a midget against Oscar even though yes Oscar is taller, Oscar also had a thicker body. Cotto will look like a massive tank in there compared to Pac. But that aside, if Cotto outboxes Pac and dominates him for 12 rounds or KOs him late, then I'll give him full credit. But it all depends how well Pac can take a shot from Cotto early on. If he can take it and loses, all credit to Cotto. On the other hand, it's Pac picking on Cotto for this fight so you can say Cotto is just doing his job as opposed to Oscar picking on Pac and getting what he deserved.

Remember that JMM's stamina is a lot better than Cotto's despite the fact he's smaller. And no, I don't think JMM could beat Cotto like I used to think was possible. I give Cotto more credit than that.

Only thing I can think of is your just being a hater. Pac is a proven and legit 140lb fighter (arguably the best 140lb in the world), has fought at WW, and is p4p top 2 fighter in the world.

If Cotto beats him he should be given full credit, because like Cotto said: "It's a guy coming up to challenge for my title". Also It's not like Cotto hasn't fought the best at WW. Fact...no one since Oscar has had a better resume at 147 and the only guys left for cotto at this moment are Floyd, Pwilliams, and Berto. The first two are tied up and Cotto will eventually get Berto's ass. So seeing how he has fought the best at 147 already, him facing and beating Pac will be another feather in his cap.

Whichever guy wins gets full credit from me. For all of Cotto's strength's, Manny has just as much.

Nobody is saying that Pac shouldn't be considered an elite Welter if he beats Cotto. What everybody is saying is Cotto needs to beat Pacquiao impressively to give us any hint that he deserves a fight with Floyd.

Ever since Cotto was the #1 challenger to Floyd's throne, I always thought it was blown out of proportion. Paul Williams should get a shot at Floyd instead, but we know that Floyd is legitimately scared of him, because Paul constantly bashes him and puts the heat on him for being a ducker. Cotto is another story.
