Fat Gilbert is underrated but he’s the favorite fighter of who?

I’ve yet to see one person say he’s their fav

but plenty of chatter about him being slow

One of his best attributes at 168 was his incredible stamina that usually helped him steamroll his opponents in the second half of his fights. At 175 he did not have the same stamina and he struggled somewhat. Now he says he is not running and saving his energy. I wonder what will happen when he wants to step on the gas at 200 lbs in round 9 and the tank is empty?

there's recent footage of him about to do a morning run

I think he misspoke and meant he's running less miles now

another point for him possibly being better at cruiser

the cruisers aren't as skilled as Gvozdyk and Cuban Dave

This fight seems like it has been FOREVER since it was signed. Seems almost strange it is actually here. Still one of the more interesting fights of the calendar so far.

My training camp hasn’t really changed, but this is the most stress-free I’ve ever been,” Benavidez said. “Training is always gonna be hard, but [...] I’ve never been in a position where I don’t have to worry about the weight, and that’s gonna make me more dangerous. When you cut weight, you’re running like seven miles every single day. Right now I don’t have to run at all. I don’t have to deplete myself, and I can use that extra energy in the fight.

“A heavyweight title would be great for my legacy, but I’m not interested in that right now,” Benavidez said. “If I go up to heavyweight, that will be later in my career. I want to go back down to 175 and win all the rest of the belts and reign there for a little bit. I definitely think heavyweight is in my future, but not right now.
If he wins Saturday he'll stay at Cruiser maybe Bivol will move up later after he beats Buff Old Russian, he has the style to negate a slight size and power advantage if he is more skilled than his opponent so why not.

If he loses he might try to go down and it will be a disaster and then maybe you get what you want and Saul Santos feeds on his corpse.

rematch if Fat Gilbert beats Fat Dave

Fat Davey had an interesting idea:
                1. Beat Fat Gilbert for belts
                2. Go back down to 175 to fight Top Soviet Bivol for undisputed
                3. *Rematch at cruiser for those unified 200 belts
*Thinking of a rematch before you've even fought would indicate that he isn't absolutely certain that he could beat Top Soviet Bivol

Buff Old Russian had vastly superior and volume to Fat Davey

Since Santos shamelessly ducked Fat Dave I can see Santos shamelessly swooping in like a vulture to cash out on Fat Dave

The question is will he win against a guy that brings 20 pounds more into the ring and did he train hard enough knowing he didnt had to to lose all his fat. Ramirez believe it or not is way bigger always has been. Benavidez always was kind of skinny fat on fight night and in between fights he was just straight out fat but compared to other 175 fighters and even 168 fighters like Callum Simpson he is not as big as people try to make it, most of this is a narrative from the canelo fanboys.
David is pear-shaped. I don't know about his weight, but he has an awful physique for a professional fighter. I'm 63 and have more muscle tone than he does. I'm curious to see if Zurdo handles him.

If he beats Ramirez, he should stay at cruiserweight and fight Opetaia.

If he losses, well, I guess he has no other option than move down to 175 for Bivol fight.

what if Fat Gilbert beats him but Fat Dave can no longer make 175

                      Fat Gilbert rematch imo

would be surprised if Gilbert wins so side that a rematch is unwarranted

Buff Guy Jai mops both of them

it'd take Top Soviet Bivol Master Boxer's footwork to outmaneuver Buff Guy Jai
