If boxing survives this, CTE will be the next extinction level event. It is time all contact sports collaborated to at least increase understanding of this, particularly with female participation on the rise.
"..... I’m at somewhere north of 25 years rooting for the alphabet bodies’ demise."
Yeah... me too. I find myself cheering for the new Evil Empire, simply because the old Evil Empire has PROVEN itself to be corrupt. Part of what the sanctioning fees have always been ear marked for was health related care and support of older boxers. That ever happened? Sanctioning bodies are not supposed to have outside revenue sources, so that they are never swayed to "protect" their champions to keep a revenue source protected. Anyone thinking that is not happening? Sanctioning bodies are supposed to support unifications, supposed to be transparent in their ranking systems, ensure active champions, and generally keep the integrity of the sport they profit from at the soul of every decision.
Anyone onboard with the alphabet organizations ever doing any of that in the history of ever?
I understand everyone's criticism of Zuffa. I just think this is one of those times the devil we do not know in boxing is the better evil. I want the sanctioning organizations to reap the acid of what they sowed.
Most people can't even name their champions and they only have 8.
On average their belt holders are way more known than boxing belt holders, even now at a relative low point in star power, even including their female champs.

Well 8 UFC Champs vs 68 Boxing Champs easier to remember. That's commom sense.
Do they have stars at the level of Mayweather, Pamcan, Canelo, Joshua, Ryan Garcia?
Average Joes don't even know or care about the UFC. It gay, 2 semi nake dudes on top of each other for 25 mins.

The biggest non-gimmick combat sports PPVs of the last decade have all been Conor fights. His fight vs Khabib did more buys than Canelo/GGG 1+2 combined. Ironically the biggest boxing match of the last decade involved Conor too.
As far as active names go - Usyk, Fury, AJ, Canelo are genuine global stars, but outside of those 4 it starts to go more in MMAs favour, even today when, like I said, their star power is at a relative low point.
s'far as i can make out this law can only apply to fights staged in the US. The Law doesn't apply to the rest of the world.
So the alphabet organisations will still exist in the rest of the world.
Looks to me like boxing will get split in 2 geographically. Most US fighters will sign up to Zuffa. Good Mexican fighters will start off in Mexico and then have to decide if they want to sign with say Matchroom or Zuffa at some point. Ditto Canadian fighters. Most of those Artican and Cuban fighters fighting out of Canada will have that same decision to make.
Not good for boxing - in essence 5 belts for the foreseeable.
Currently, the Ali Act mandates a separation between promoters and sanctioning bodies.
The Revitalization Act would allow UBOs to perform all the functions currently held by established sanctioning bodies, including rankings, championships, and regulations,
in addition to a minimum payout of $200 per round.
I will say it. F! DW nut hugging DT to get this **** passed.
It is NOT a step forward. Putting some wording in a bill to pretty it up but really covering the truth is what it is.
Monopolization is ALWAYS a bad thing.
The world is **** due to it. Boxing will become even more ****ty due to this.
It could actually backfire on Zuffa.
Imagine this scenario - Top Rank and Matchroom combine and takes in the WBC and WBA right off the bat.
So North America ,UK, Japan, and China markets locked in. Add in some "subsidiaries" be it promotion groups or organizations for outlying countries and you have an instant global cabal.
