Great article. I think you need to know the UFC and TKO to really understand what is going on. As much as i hate the sanctioning bodies there is no way in hell i can root for TKO to take over. I said this way before Hauser, Don King was a great guy a fighters promoter compared to Dana White it's not only about the robbing their money it's about the whole business practice they do and the Ego of these guys if they don't like you they will try everything to destroy you and just like that the UFC destroyed their own heavyweight division. I could write down a list of things that scream not to let these guys take over from them not respecting their rankings to threaten managers and journalists with death to forcing fighters to take fights with less than 24 hours notice from cutting fighters because they dislike them from not offering fighters fights which they have to do as per contract from stealing and not allowing them sponsorships from not being able to make the biggest fights for now 3 years straight from them telling fighters to sign with specific managers or they wont get any fights. It's just a list that goes on and on.

But the worse thing is them just robbing their fighters and that's why recently the fighters pushback and they can't get the big fights done. The heavyweight division has 3 big names in MMA all of them have a claim to call themselves the baddest guy the UFC Champ but the UFC in 44-5 years is not being able to make even one of them fight the other even though all 3 guys are willing to fight and in the span of the years Dana white publicly said Jones is scared to fight Ngannou to publicly saying Ngannou never wanted to fight Jones. To publicly saying Aspinal will fight Jones 100 percent to now saying Jones never wanted to fight Aspinal and at the end all 3 of these guys want to fight each other but all 3 of them know they worth more than getting 15 percent of the total pie and especially a guy like Jones who made them 100 of millions to only get a small fraction is now fed up and will not accept getting robbed at his final stage of his career.

All that being said the UFC had a great run with a lot of luck involved and without Mcgregor the sport would never have been close to the Mainstream but only 20 years in and everything is already going down and they are already exceeding all the bad stuff that is happening in boxing. Having to settle to payback 375 million and one more lawsuit which is expected way higher should be a waning sign. Changing the Ali act was just the door opener to rob boxers and make more billions of the back of the fighters.

TKO stands for everything that is wrong in our world.

"What if instead of smoking out the vermin, they’re going to burn down the whole house and then sell the vacant lot?" This is what my fear is concerning if they were to effectively remove the 4 sanctioning bodies, but not deliver on their promise to actually make boxing great.

Sure they got the money to do great things which is necessary, but having a lot of money doesn't always equal great taste as many know. Or in this case, having a lot of money and not knowing how to properly utilize it. Sure, White has experience with UFC, but in that, we also know the greed and way those fighters have been treated. Why wouldn't he want to continue that model here?

What I see almost from a fighters perspective is that they're going to be promised a better land to live on if you step on over to it, except you will be shackled down to what the rules of the land are. That being, you can only fight in-house and you will have to except the meager purses. They might entice a fighter with a big upfront payment, but over the long term, will they have made more outside of Zuffa? That's probably the real question.

I'd be ok with no official champions at all just to get rid of all these orgs and promotional companies.

They were already breaking a mil on PPVs multiple times long before Conor. He actually showed up a little after their original boom period cooled off. It was TUF, Brock, GSP, Anderson, UFC 100 etc that caused things to blow up initially.

Pretty much agree with this. Practically every advantage MMA had over boxing when I first got into it and has long gone by now. The manageable easy to follow amount of cards and divisions, constant stacked cards, high finish rates, the greater emphasis on heavier weights, the usually strong HW and cruiser divisions, the high amount of American stars etc etc.

Its oversaturated corporate slop these days.
