I'll be surprised if Smith resists for more than six rounds.

I think Smith played a st.pid game by pricing himself out of the Benavidez fight. He would have received a career ending beating for sure but at least with a decent payday.
Now he will most likely lose the fight against Morrell and that will be it for him. Maybe he can move to Cruiserweight after the loss since Jai Opetaia is desperately looking for any fighter above D level (Without success).

Looking back at Smiths career it's a weird one. I can't say with confidence if he was any good. He had two decent wins and both have questions marks on them. Groves was done and admitted that he knew that his fighting days are over due to his shoulder injury one fight prior and he was basically coming to take the last paycheck. Buatsi had high hopes but never showed even once that he is a top 10 fighter and his last fight against Parker was really emberassing.

Mix this with his 2 fights when he stepped up to the top level and got mistreated by Beterbiev and Canelo + the several poor performances over the years he had against fighters not even close to top 15.

All in all i think he can be very lucky to call himself former World Champion, you had way better guys that either never got the chance or simply faced very tough opponents.

I'm looking forward to this fight. A couple fights prior for Morrell and I would have said Smith loses bad. But, Morrell isn't as bad of a man as I thought he was. And Smith looked good against Buatsi. So, this is a pick 'em fight for me. It should be a good scrap.

I could have written this post myself. Not a truer word. Smith has always been overrated.

Callum’s level echoes that of BUFF GUY YARDE

Good fight and a crossroad fight for Morrell. It should be interesting.
