Sergio Martinez Ready To Step in For Kelly Pavlik

BoxingScene.com was informed by promoter Lou DiBella that WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez is ready, willing and able to step in for the injured Kelly Pavlik and take on Paul Williams on December 5. Pavlik's trainer, Jack Loew, advised several news outlets in Youngstown that his fighter was still suffered from a staph infection in his left hand. The injury had previously postponed the fight from the original October date. Apparently the injury is so bad that Pavlik is not even capable of closing his hand to make a fist. [details]

Sounds good to me. Id favor Martinez to win.

No. Hell no. I don't care how bad MW is right now or how bad it was when P-Will fought Winky. Winky is/was not top 5 MW. I don't care why fans on here always live off from what happened in the passed. His wins at MW is Trinidad, Soliman, and Quartey. He has a draw against Taylor. But, that was in 06' 3yrs prior than the P-Will fight. Winky was not top 5 when he fought P-Will. And, he is not even top 10 right now.

I understand what your trying to get at. But name 5 middleweights you think could beat Winky...I mean unless he was totally just shot which I don't think he is compared to others at MW...leave out pavlik and williams.

Winky was coming off damn near a two year layoff and unlike your idol, he chose to have some balls and fight a big legitimate threat. Winky looked like he had a lot of ring rust in that fight.

Bro, How could you put him in the top 5 when he has not won a fight in that weightclass in nearly 3yrs? And, still his best win at MW is a draw against Taylor, his best real win is Trinidad.

I think David Lopez beats him right now, Anthony Mundine, and Sebastian Sylvester have great shots beating him. He is passed prime. He is very inactive. We going by what he did in the passed. Everybody including me was impressed on how good he did against P-Will. But, at the same time he lossed atleast 10rds. I think if Martinez and Dzinziruk move up to 160 they beat him.

Easily Really? What has he done in the last 2yrs that makes you say that? He has won win against a true top 10 MW who was at his best in Sam Soliman. And, that was not easy. Wright won but Soliman was able to steal some rounds. Sam marked up Winky face. Winky was in a fight. And, that was a very close to his prime WInky. But, that was damn near 4yrs ago.

Martinez is overrated by a lot of people. I don't see what's so special about him. His loss to Margarito is legit whether people want to admit it or not. And even though he got robbed of his KO win over Cintron, he should've never let the guy go the full twelve rounds after hitting him with that punch. He hot dogged around and let Cintron off the hook. Compare that with the way Margarito made Cintron cry in the first fight and KO him with a body shot in the second, and Martinez is a very hyped up fighter. The most notable win on his resume is Bunema, and that dude ******.
