No, the same cannot be said. Let me help you out.

Ortiz got dropped twice and was very fortunate to escape with a decision win. Boha then went on and lost for a second time to a late-30s Brandon Adams.

Boots won (AT WORST) 22 of 24 total rounds against Karen and dropped him in the second fight. Karen is 10-0 in his last 10 fights against guys not named Boots, with 6 KOs.

So no, the same cannot be said.

      Great post, 100% accurate.

I believe Jaron is stuck in the Terrance Crawford zone and I don't see anyone close to the competitive nature of a prime Errol Spence. People forget Errol Spence was willing to fight anyone at any time, anyone. The man went against his team's advice to make the Crawford fight. Spence and Crawford were competitive animals and like it or not, Ortiz Jr is not that guy.

In the end, without an opponent that dares to be great, Jaron will need to do something very risky or take very short money like Uysk and still, he'll have difficulty finding opponents.

Oscar began putting up obstacles immediately after Ortiz's last fight by claiming "A-side", now he's negotiating in the media.

Great point by Paulie. Ortiz can fight for a title while booty fights ANOTHER bum that's filled in his resume.

I wish I was a fly on the wall when Oscar and Bernard called a meeting for Grandpa and Vergil and said, "If Boots smashes Uisma Lima, he's going call Vergil out. So here's the game plan. It's just like football. We're gonna do a quick pivot, and start talking about fighting Errol Spence- a 3 year inactive, wounded animal, but with a big NAME. If not Errol, we'll pivot to Fundora. So that's the narrative. Let's stick to the game plan, guys. On the count of 3- 1,2,3 Teamwork makes the dream work !!" (everybody high fives)

I'd like to see Hearn come out and say something - and for Oscar to not say anything trying to negotiate in the media. The fighters want it but the promoters are playing their usual hard ball. This has heppened countless time before a fight is made. I think the fight will happen for sure but I wouldn't bet either of my balls and surely not both my balls on it. But I'd almost give up a ball to see the fight but I don't want to break up the set.

Took two tuneups at 54, 5 fights total and still no belt. 50/50 would be a GIFT for him. His whole ****ck has been "we wanted to fight Boots but he didn't want to fight"...now that Boots is at the weight class and had one tuneup suddenly the Ortiz camp has every excuse in the book.

Oscar is annoying but he's no dummy when it comes to boxing. He knows what happens if the two fight, and he doesn't want to see it, just like he didn't want Ryan to fight Tank. He'll be damned if he lets it happen again. He has no other stars if Vergil gets torched (and Vergil isn't even a star). It's funny how Oscar can play boxing purist at times when it comes to sanctioning fees or lobbying for "the best to fight the best"....but when he has his own skin in the game, he's the same as everyone else.

And don't expect Vergil fans to be upset about this...they know what happens when he fights Boots, and they never wanted to see it either.
I keep hearing this "Boots sells more tickets" stuff. Where? His hometown? No s h i t? Really?

Boots is not a big name, and as the sport itself is a shadow of what it used to be, that means that the money isn't what it used to be obviously. So here is the point that for some reason so many are missing...

Ortiz Boots is a PPV fight. Because Ortiz is going to sell more PPVs as he has the Mexican fanbase, Boots will make more with a 55/45 or 60/40 split than he will fighting another no hoper at 70/30. Duh. Boots will bring in some hardcore fight fans, but Ortiz could make similar if not better money against Fundora and yes, even a washed up Spence who hasn't fought in three years.

Ortiz is going to make Boots the most money, and also give him by far the biggest boost on his resume. If he smashed Ortiz, Boots is totally legitamized. Either way, Boots NEEDS to make the Ortiz fight happen.

Ortiz's manager just came out and is clashing with Oscar saying Virgil wants Boots now. So we are obviously seeing promoter games. That said, Oscar is more likely to put Virgil in a tough fight than Hearns is to put Boots in any danger. Boots hasn't fought any top guys and Ortiz has proven he can beat the best. Boots is a very talented good fighter but he hasn't proven himself at all yet. The eye test can fail once a guy eats a big shot from Ortiz. Either guy could win. Ortiz wants it. Let's see what Boots and Hearns say.

Oscar knows Vergil is up against it so he will let Vergil fight a few more times before feeding him to boots,

After Karen Boots goes on to beat 13 fight Stanionis and 15 fight Lima. Hearn had to put him on the pablum and that isn't worthy of the lions share. I have more faith in Brandon than I do in Boots.
