Why has Vergil never fought for a real belt across two divisions? He's 28 and has yet to show any real interest in fighting for a real title. It's pretty strange.

His whole ****ck has been "we wanted to fight Boots but he didn't want to fight"...now that Boots is at the weight class and had one tuneup suddenly the Ortiz camp has every excuse in the book.

Oscar is annoying but he's no dummy when it comes to boxing. He knows what happens if the two fight, and he doesn't want to see it, just like he didn't want Ryan to fight Tank. He'll be damned if he lets it happen again. He has no other stars if Vergil gets torched (and Vergil isn't even a star). It's funny how Oscar can play boxing purist at times when it comes to sanctioning fees or lobbying for "the best to fight the best"....but when he has his own skin in the game, he's the same as everyone else.

And don't expect Vergil fans to be upset about this...they know what happens when he fights Boots, and they never wanted to see it either.
        100% truth here!!

Vergil never regained his confidence lost from the Boha fight which had a different script than the usual amateur bout or usual promoter fed pre-planned pro bout, where the Mexican style was turned around against himself. One too many of those bouts will mean a short lived career so the most viable path further is to only engage in pre-planned pro bouts until retiring form a cash out fight.

Replace Vergil, Boha with any other recent fighter X and Y.

The same can be said about Boots vs Karen. Eddy lost faith when Boots couldn't shine the second time. Karen?

That was a 50-50 purse split or a 55-45 at worst. So we know what's up here. Oscar thinks he has the next Canelo-Golden-Goose on his hands but Ortiz can't be that if Ennis stands in his way - Ortiz could have lost to Bohachuk so Oscar can't risk him now unless there's far more money in the pot

"but I don’t want to see Jaron in another fight against a guy who delivers my room service,” Malignaggi said. “If he does, that’s a Jaron issue. Then, you have to question the character.”

Great point by Paulie. Ortiz can fight for a title while booty fights ANOTHER bum that's filled in his resume.

Shoulda never turned down the Saudi money puss in boots

It’s funny that pre-Saudi involvement, if we saw any fight talked about by promoters we wouldn’t believe it until it was signed. But now we’re used to bigger fights coming together (and the Saudis aren’t funding as many big fights) we’ve been tricked into falling for it all over again and it’s so disappointing when it doesn’t happen.
