Zero indication Errol Spence is an active fighter & clearly PBC is looking to make Fundora/Thurman. With both of them out of the mix, the whole “we have options” approach doesn’t hold much water. Discouraging but not surprising to see Oscar setting arbitrary deadlines. Hoping DAZN sticks to their guns and doesn’t foot the bill for tuneups. Winner of this fight takes a big leap forward, don’t let either side find a way to wiggle out.
Oscar's "self-imposed deadline..." hahahahaha Seriously... And then people will say Hearn is the culprit. Now i'm no fan of Eddy the used car salesman, but it's seem clear Oscar is the one who doesn't want the fight.
Same story with Boots as always. Ortiz has a far better resume, he has shown that he will take tough fights. He has the Mexican fanbase.
Hearn is a terrible promoter. Boots likely would take the fight to raise his profile. Hearn is not putting him in any dangerous fight until Ennis is close to cash out time.
Boots needs this fight far more than Ortiz. Ortiz has proven himself against quality fighters. So Hearn and Boots aren't even willing to discuss 55-45, seeing as they believe Boots beats Virgil?
60-40 is a ridiculous split. This fight should be 50/50 even if (big IF) Ortiz is a bigger draw on his own because this fight will sell BIG because it's the two of them. Maybe you go 55/45 in Ortiz favor. Oscar doesn't really want the fight, at least not yet.
Eddie will try and spin this but in the end, there's been a good amount of time since both last fight. DLH is going to get Ortiz a good fight, while Eddie and Bootsy will fight "who the fool is that guy"
Come on, the fight died the night Ortiz beat Lubin. The promotors started talking that was that. I moved on November 26, 2025 once the broadcast ended.
Now we're going to be subjected to a war of words on social media and non stop begging for that Riyadh money to stay afloat from both promotors.

It's interesting how everyone gives Ortiz credit for having a huge fan base simply because he's Mexican. He's never come close to Boots in ticket sales or gate. 3 divisions, no belt. Took two tuneups at 54, 5 fights total and still no belt. 50/50 would be a GIFT for him. His whole ****ck has been "we wanted to fight Boots but he didn't want to fight"...now that Boots is at the weight class and had one tuneup suddenly the Ortiz camp has every excuse in the book.
Oscar is annoying but he's no dummy when it comes to boxing. He knows what happens if the two fight, and he doesn't want to see it, just like he didn't want Ryan to fight Tank. He'll be damned if he lets it happen again. He has no other stars if Vergil gets torched (and Vergil isn't even a star). It's funny how Oscar can play boxing purist at times when it comes to sanctioning fees or lobbying for "the best to fight the best"....but when he has his own skin in the game, he's the same as everyone else.
And don't expect Vergil fans to be upset about this...they know what happens when he fights Boots, and they never wanted to see it either.
