I echo the previous posters, it was really bizzare commentary all the way through the fight, you could see matias being troubled by solid shots, zero concern from the commentators,.

if this was on the radio you would have thought it's just a matter of time until the brave but out of his depth Smith gets stopped.

Fun action fight and congratulations to Smith.

I had it 2-2 but now that I've re-watched it I could barely give 1 round to Matias.

Vast swathes of his punches are thrown with an open glove, behind the head/neck and his hands didn't seem anywhere near as active as I perceived on the live watch.

Thank God. Matias was way overhyped. Good for Dalton.

I saw BOTH guys getting buzzed throughout the fight. Matias was hiding it better early, but I could tell he was feeling the shots in the 3rd and 4th. Seemed to me either guy could've knocked the other out. But Smith got it done first. Fighting like Rocky isn't gonna give you a long career, you gotta have defense. Props to Dalton.

            No Mas-tias

I tried to tell y'all this scrub got a gift against Puello. Eddie and Turki knew Matias would be a much easier style for Smith than Puello.

Hitchins is kicking himself for being afraid of Matias.

I'm jumping off the Matias bandwagon after this fight. The Puerto Rican fanbase over here is very passionate and they somehow convinced me that he was really good. Matias needs duck and weave, feint, and move his head. He walks straighforward like a ****ing zombie and that only works if your opponent respects your punching power. It was a great fight but damn those guys took a lot of hard punches and it's going take a few years off their lives.

His body language was betraying him big time... Yet they were adamant he was absolutely dominating.
I don't even think Matias was winning the rounds. You could give him a couple but it looks like he was winning because it was more his kind of fight, so the illusion is he's having his own way but actually he was getting worked over plenty, which is why he wilted first. Yes the ending sequence were big shots but it was the accumulation that made him easier to hurt.

Not to say Smith will have a better career than Froch, we'll see, but he's definitely more well rounded than Froch, although tonight's fight doesn't show much of it.

Tonight Smith didn't even fight it usual way and beat Matias at his own game. Shades of Froch in terms of toughness and tenacity in this fight but against other opponents he will box a lot more and not just come forward.

Good fighter. Opponents will have to decide whether to box or fight him and hes very good at both.
