Top 3 potential fights for Netflix

In terms of global reach, views, return on investment (Purses), projected views, and moving the needle.

    In order

    1. Jake Paul vs Francis N

Will do bigger numbers than Canelo/Crawford, Francis is global, and Jake is bigger than ever, danger for both men, both deficient enough at their craft to make it a compelling fight, and a big big event. It's the ovb next opponent for Jake and Netflix.

    2. AJ vs winner of Usyk/Wilder

AJ is huge stateside at the moment, bigger than he has ever been, returning to fight for the undisputed HW title in late 2026, in a real venue, with real buildup, would do bigger numbers than Canelo Crawford.

    3. Canelo/Benavidez

So many people want to see it, much bigger appetite for this fight stateside, and globally. It would land in the 30 million views range, the low end of this totem pole, but a big big fight, and a solid vehicle for subscription marketing in latin and South America.

*Could not include potential Tyson Fury fights, wanted too, but his significant legal issues in the United States prevent him from fighting in the US, and Netflix is only doing stateside bouts for the foreseeable future.

they could do joshua vs canelo or ryan garcia vs timothy chalamet. do we really even need actual boxing anymore? we can just have these big crazy events!!!! maybe canelo or joshua against keenan from saturday night live. maybe charlie sheen could fight charlie z on the undercard. sydney sweeney vs jenna ortega in a topless foxy boxing match.

put boots vs ortiz on some app ppv for 800 dollars.

Considering JP's performance was abysmal and everything people hate about boxing, it's interesting to imagine that that would be the biggest fight for Netflix to air. Imagine that, any other fighter who fights that way is criticized to death, though because it was JP who did that, you either respect him for doing that in order to survive or hate him for doing that in order to survive. Though the idea that people would actually respect it just because it was JP is an interesting concept. Heck, even I mentioned in another thread it was a smart move by him because I saw no other way that he would last rds. The second he sat still and ate power shots from AJ, he was going to crumble.

That said, Netflix is all about big personalities and mega events obviously. AJ's star power in the US just grew substantially with the win and because of the amount of eyes that witnessed, I guess he should be thankful his initial US debut wasn't on Netflix, lol. People are talking like they just discovered of his existence now. A bit too late on you folks.

Though AJ vs anyone can probably do decent views on Netflix now because of his star power gain by facing JP. Whether that's a 3rd fight with Usyk that I honestly have no desire to see, or finally facing Wilder which is now equivalent to practically Pacquiao-Mayweather in that it's so overdue and meaningless. Not nearly at the time the fans wanted it, but maybe enough to make it worthwhile that Netflix is interested to show it.

I think Canelo's stock took a big hit losing to Crawford. It shows that all his cherry pick fights were there to help pad his wins and when he faced a truly talented guy and probably only did because he thought he had the size advantage, he got schooled. Though because of the Benavidez hype, it can still be a big fight. I'm just not sure the casuals will be interested in it. Benavidez isn't a huge name yet really, only for the boxing fans. Can he draw mega viewers, especially when it's Mexico vs Mexico? (well Mexican-American for Bendavidez). I think it will do well, but not the crazy numbers Netflix is accustomed to now with JP and when he faced Mike Tyson and now AJ.

If they're not going to do PPV then they need to do massive numbers to make it worthwhile. So the fights won't be great boxing matchups, they'll be fights with very broad appeal.

YouTubers, retired big name boxers, basketballers, celebrities... that kind of thing.

I think you've got more chance of seeing George Clooney up against Leonardo DiCaprio than a proper fight between two highly ranked fighters.

Netflix doing what Triller didn't have the scale to do.

Solid post, and you are correct, Jake's embarrassing performance won't have a significant impact on his numbers because it's not boxing fans watching for the most part, and boxing fans will watch because there simply isn't much televised boxing these days, not with mainstream appeal. I agree Canelo/ Benavidez may be a year late, but I don't think we can underestimate just how many people in those countries would watch the fight, and it would be a mainstream event in the US, no question, Canelo losing, and losing the way he did does not help as you note, but the fight is a blockbuster, and if it's cheap? Big numbers

Have elected officials fight, that would draw huge numbers.

I think that JP has been shown that he cant compete with top 15 fighters at this point and im not sure he can go back to novelty bouts. He hasnt been exposed as a non boxer....but he has been shown his level and now its either start from the middle of professional boxing and work your way up...or retire. Theres not enough money in it for him to spend the next 3 years fighting other contenders so i'd say retirement is coming. Having said that...im not sure there is anyone else to fill his space. They have tried with misfits and KSI....but that remains a niche spot that doesnt draw huge numbers.
