Sorry to see him go but great to see him make a smart decision to retire. A good family man who wants to enjoy his kids and still have all his marbles. Obviously money isn't his priority his family is. Props.

Agreed...I have a feeling that this is a 'Mayweather style retirement' and he'll be back soon in another big fight (where he'll be able to ask for more money due to 'coming out of retirement').

Congratulations to Bud Crawford! What a career. So bittersweet though. I really wanted to see him with Boots and really wanted to see him snag that sixth division title considering how few fighters have done it.

Crawford needs to beat Floyd Mayweather, Timothy Bradley, and Sam Eggington to cement his status as a future HOF. Nash out - His Majesty

I think he stays retired like Andre Ward or Calzaghe.

                  wouldnt surprise me

he wasn’t hellbent on greatness but became all time great anyways

And he made the best of what he had in a lighter era

I have him a shade off in ability from Floyd and Sugar Leonard

both ran through MULTIPLE greats. Floyd did it easily while Sugar Leonard did it competitively but his great opps were higher skill level

Terrence Crawford has always yearned for recognition from the universal boxing world and beyond 'when he beat Canelo Alvarez earlier this year, he did receive that credit and recognition. It has been his peak win in terms of exposure and prestige, but technically? I don't think it is his best win'.

Note: I think Terrence Crawford retiring now is perfectly logical 'there is always going to be competition in boxing. But competition at this stage of Crawford's career, in my opinion? Was not want he was looking for primarily. Terrence Crawford yearned and was chasing the big mega block buster fights'.

And with the retirement of Floyd Mayweather Junior and Manny Pacquiao 'there was only really one fight which reached that level. The contest between him and Canelo Alvarez at 168 pounds for the Undisputed Super Middle Weight titles'.

Terrence Crawford achieved that feat of beating Canelo Alvarez, and he has maintained his unbeaten record in the professional ranks 'it is a really smart move now, to get out of the game. And then overtime, just like with Lennox Lewis people within the boxing community will gain extra appreciation for his career and feats achieved'.

I personally rate Terrence Crawford as one of the top 3 greatest fighters his generation 'skill for skill? He may be a superior fighter than Oleksandr Uysk. But Uysk has superior individual wins and a better overall resume, which is why currently right now? I would rate Oleksandr Uysk as a greater fighter but it is very close. I am sure there are certain folk within the boxing community that could make a case for Crawford being greater than Uysk, but for me personally Oleksandr Uysk is pound for pound a greater fighter'.

To conclude: Nevertheless Terrence Crawford in terms of gaining titles has had a great career 'not the most intriguing of careers and fights. But this was mainly due to his boxing era not really being super talented compared to past great Welter Weight eras'.

Terrence Crawford was a composed fighter inside the ring, and this decision to retire 'also reflects that composure and sound thought processes outside the ring' etc.
