In all honesty , that is a huge money fight in Texas
Not sure about the dream but I know that money bag isn’t the same fighting Boots
And let’s not forget , Boots has walked away from fighting Ortiz before when Turki offered to make the fight
Is this returning the favour , don’t know if it is but let’s not forget that Boots already avoided Ortiz onceComment

If this were to come through immediately without Spence taking a tune-up fight, it's going to be brutal for him. I can almost see a 1st rd KO loss or 2nd. Virgil is fresh, hungry and has the kind of power you can't let him land on you often enough for long or it's over quickly. Spence is one of few guys I'd actually like to see a tune-up if he were to come back to gauge where he's at. His Crawford loss was dominant in that he was manhandled by Crawford. I'm sure it took a lot out of him and unless we know where he's at exactly, we don't know if he's really got much left to compete with Virgil right now.
Though for business on the Goldenboy and Virgil side, it makes sense. A nice name opponent to get on the resume that will still draw big money in Texas and to further get Virgil's name out there to demand justifiable big bucks for that Boots fight to be made.Comment

True. I wanted it happen sooner as well, maybe around 2012. The only reason I'm happy it happened as late as it did was because of the payouts for both guys. I have to say this but Floyd deserves credit for ushering in those huge paydays prior to the Pac fight, it only ensured that both were compensated.
Had they fought in 2010, I couldn't see both of them making more than a guarantee around $30M because of the paydays around that time. It was rare for guys to be guaranteed more than $25M aside from Holyfield who I believe was guaranteed $30M for one of the Tyson fights.
To see Pac guaranteed damn $100M and Floyd bringing in 9 figures was well deserved! The guarantees for fighters today are significantly lower than this...most have to beg for more than 5-10 million, maybe it's due to other factors but I was happy to see two greats make that much money.😎 1Comment

This would be bad for the sport of boxing if Ortiz does decide to fight Spence. Errol’ s body has been through enough trauma as it is.
He was in a bad car accident which nearly cost him both his life and left eye by detaching its retina. It also left him partially blind with his vision being compromised as he can no longer see the punches coming anymore.
Even though all of it is of his own undoing by drinking and driving. In any case, this fight will not end well for him. Chances are he won’t even make it out of the first round.
He is an irreparably and permanently ruined fighter now who should never be allowed to compete inside of prizefighting ring again. It would be too risky and he just might get hurt.Comment
