Or put another way, 2000% more clinches initiated by Mayweather in a 12 round fight.
Absolutely but try getting these Mayweather excuse makers to see the point

I think some of you are still suffering from the collective trauma of this fight not happening in 2010 when it should have. It encapsulated what it's been like to be a boxing fan these past 15 years or so. The obvious, best fight in a division couldn't be made because a litany of egotists couldn't reach an agreement or behave with dignity.

We're never going back, let it go.

But Floyd's dad saw the fear too and said so in the moment.

Anyway, there was probably a better fight between these two that could have happened, that's all.
              Absolutely

Floyd was scared. His pops was scared.

              He fought scared.

In 2009 he was scared scared, and in 2015 he fought scared. If you want to call that boxing or fighting. He was just holding and running to the final bell so the judges could hook him up

And I replied that it’s part of boxing and always has been.

21 in 12 is not excessive. It’s actually the opposite.

Come on now, Dan. If you're going to hold to this line then you must also concede that the context of the holding relative to his opponent's attributes was also relevant, and not merely the number of holds. Jim Watt even said during the broadcast Mayweather was getting away with a lot, i.e. using illegal tactics to thwart attacks.

This was a consistent theme during this hometown fighter's career and one of the main reasons I struggle to view him in the esteemed way others do. He built himself into such an attraction he could stack things in his favour: bravo. From his perspective that's a perfectly rational thing to do. I'm not obligated to admire it, though.

My opinion is if your holding its because you're hurt and don't want opponent to punch you, and you need to hold to see next round. You hold, you lose round

Mayweather used to hold because he didn't want to exchange punches. He usually used movement to avoid exchanging and if that wasn't possible he would hold.
