  • Answer only if u watched full Cotto-Malignanggi fight

I just watched this fight last night for the first time and I was surprised at how well Malignaggi did against Cotto.

When the fight was made by looking at Malignaggi face I thought it was a massacre with all the blood and his jaw broken and that he didnt touch Cotto at all. However watching at the film now it was a different story, I found the bout very competitive and I think Cotto did very well and deserved the decision.

Now my question is, based on this fight what is your expectation for the Cotto-Pacquiao fight? I think had Magginagi more power with the amount of punches that he connected on Cotto he eventually would have won the fight.

Now you know Pacquiao is heavy handed and his accuracy is way superior to Malignaggi and also his volume punching and look a how he was beating Cotto to the punch, realistically how do you think Cotto will manage to handle Manny? and even though his jab could be an answer but will it be an answer the whole fight if the fight extend to the later rounds? i see it almost impossible because eventually he would get tire and is when Manny will try to catch him with his accurate and solid combinations and the rest is history.

    Thank you for your comments.

Good points. Paulie was able to land a lot of shots on cotto with his superior speed, problem was he punches softer than my 9 year old niece. Pacquiao is a different animal, which is why I believe Cotto is getting KO'd in this one.

If Paulies punches meant anything Cotto would have chose another approach instead of the "plow through Paulie".

            1. Cotto was weight drained.
            2. Cotto broke his hand in the 5th.

Before Cotto, no one had ever been able to even land a punch on Malignaggi.
Cotto not only was able to hit him but was able to knock him down and break his jaw.

Malignaggi was basicly fighting a man who is considered by most a one handed fighter, that being his left hand. He broke his left hand, thus he was fighting a man with no hands
I guess it was pretty impressive of Malignaggi fighting a man with no hands after the 5th lol

That was like four years ago at 140 cotto was really weight drained. Also paulie is a quality boxer. It was a good fight but I say if cotto wasn't weight drained he ko's him. I became a paulie fan after that fight he showed a lot of heart.

Yup, Cotto was looking a bit like a shell at that point. Also, Smoger's non intrusive approach to reffing allowed Malignaggi to do a whole lot of spoiling. Pac's chin may be more available at different points as he's more inclined to come forward and not clinch. Very opposite to Paulie's style of back peddling and clinching. It will certainly be in Cotto's best interest to invest his energy in hurting Pacquiao early.

                  Cotto's last fight at 140.

Check out those weigh in pictures...dude looked like a walking corpse.

Paulie also held a ton, Pac doesn't do that.

That was the Cotto of old. The ¨Terminator¨ Cotto. After that fight, he has fought very tough opposition and has changed his style. Now he exhibits much more lateral defensive movements (a mistake on his part, IMHO), and boxes a lot when he thinks he has the fight won. Great fight by Paulie, btw.

But no, I don´t see Pacquiao defeating Cotto. If Cotto hasn´t worked on his stamina, Pacquiao can make a run of rounds 9-12 and make this interesting... but seriously, I don´t see him beating Cotto. This isn´t ¨Terminator Cotto¨ anymore.
