I rewatched the fight. In the 11th Parker I don't think Parker connected with one punch. He came out pawing a jab and with his back hand primed to throw, but backing up. I believe he was craftily buying himself time to recover from the tenth. But unluckily for him, Wardley realised what was going on after 30/40 seconds or so and started to unleash his own right hand. During the onslaught on the ropes Parker threw a half hearted power punch which I think brushed Wardley. Essentially, NOTHING was coming back.

"But I want to say congratulations to my opponent because he won the fight fair and square and now he’s moving on to a bigger fight". Joe Parker said that himself. It's in the report. No more argument. End of.

I say why not? It was an instant classic, complete with controversy. Run it back. Besides, there are absolutely no guarantees that either of these guys would have actually faced Usyk next, save me your WBO mandatory madness, we all know none of it really means anything.

After watching it, I agree it was an early stoppage and that a standing 8 count was much more appropriate. But after seeing Parker get rocked, I do not see it as rising to the level of egregious. Just a bad ending to a basically decent HW fight with a lot on the line.

There is no standing 8 count in professional boxing , there hasn't been since 1998. A fighter can go down , or take a knee. There's no count without going down. People get confused about that because the referee counts to 8 when there's a knockdown whether the fighter is down or up.

People complaining and they don't even know the rules, it's pathetic.

As for Parker, a close loss in a very competitive fight of the year candidate vs an undefeated puncher and he's gone from the second best heavyweight in the world to "he should retire"

The fans of this sport make me sick honestly.

So you kow Joe Parker's thoughts better than Joe Parker does? That's one big ego you've got.

Absolutely right; it's his own fault.

You could tell the ref was about to step in. Parker was laying on the ropes, trying to slip, not throwing, and def took a few shots. Meanwhile, the ref got closer and closer, and Parker was unable to return fire.

A lot of refs might have done the same.
