Comments Thread For: Fabio Wardley, Oleksandr Usyk's new mandatory, calls out the champ?

Saturday's win over Joseph Parker theoretically puts Fabio Wardley on deck to face undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. Can he coax him into the ring?

Just train for a 3 round fight Fabio, go out there and throw 150 punches a round for 3 rounds and see what happens.

You ain't beating him in a boxing match all day but in an early doors firefight who knows.

Gonna be difficult to root for both guys at the same time.

Wardley's only hope is if Usyk gets old overnight, or if he becomes a master body puncher.

But Wardley is so likeable and his story so fan-friendly, how can you root against him?

Truly a "may the best man win" fight if it indeed happens, and that's Usyk all day long. But I think Fabio will give a good account.

From the article: "As satisfying as that might be to fans salivating over the thought of a real-life Rocky-versus-Apollo matchup, it seems unlikely after Usyk already declined a Parker fight (due to injury claims)....and wishing to get the biggest, most lucrative fights". The difference is that Wembley is Usyk's second home and I heard chants of "Usyk, Usyk" when Daniel Dubois was doing his ring walk in the previous fight. Fabio provides the British opponent (seriously, pick on another country for a change, Oleksandr), add a lot of drunks and the place is instantly sold out. Money for everyone. Only challenge is, as Joseph says above, "gonna be difficult to root for both guys at the same time". Since neither Oleksandr or Fabio slap ladies around in underground carparks it's hard to pick one personality over another.

But, you know, I can't think of another opponent right now. I don't fancy the chances of Agit or Moses, even though Oleksandr isn't a brutal finisher (unless your name is Dubois). I looked at the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board ratings and no one jumps out at me. Fabio has just taken care of their listed number one.

Chances are at about 1% but imagine if Wardley landed the Hail Mary on Usyk.

Man that is good advice. Swarm Usyk if you can. Make him respond, see if you land multiple good shots early to change the way Usyk fights.

It may not work, but if you have to put all your chips into the middle of the table anyways, may as well go down swinging like Babe Ruth.

Usyk must be the man of his word.

Wardley must make this fight being a war. he has no chance in a chess match.

I'm a local buh Wardly fan & I called it.

Nothing on the Howard Foster premature home boy stoppage special??

Parker was gassed but not out, it leaves a bad taste that one.

Usyk? Rocky double ko anyone 😂 gtfoh, Wardly will be hit in ways he never knew existed.

This, or if they manage to get the same referee who officiated in the Parker fight.

Fury and AJ also had that 1% chance to land the Hail Mary on Usyk.
