No-one is going to be impressed. They're putting Whittaker in with a 30 year old journeyman who's been fighting in school gymnasiums and small shows for years, also against weak opposition.
Whittaker himself will be 30 soon enough, so time is running out. If Matchroom really believed in him they'd put him in with someone a few levels higher to fast track him to world level. This is just a way to delay the inevitable day when Whittaker gets found out.
FN are reporting that the vacant WBC 'silver' belt will be on the line; they also provide an extended quote from Hearn who refers to this as a 'major title shot'. Gavazi doesn't even make the WBC's top 40 and Boxrec have him #50 in the world. This will no doubt push Whittaker (WBC #9 somehow) up the rankings.
