Comments Thread For: Dave Allen on Makhmudov clash: ?I?m s****** myself, to be honest"

It?s fair to see Dave Allen is feeling anxious about his Saturday fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov.

He should be, it looks like a mismatch on paper. Then again everyone expected him to get steamrolled by Fisher. This is a different level though.

Is it a different level? who exactly has Makhmudov beaten that suggests he’s on a different level? first time he fought a quality opponent he got beaten and got beaten pretty easily due to a lack of skills and mistakes in defence - probably because he didn’t need much defence due to his size until that point.

Dave sounds like he’s in way better shape than the Fisher fight and he had a good engine anyway. My guess is he’ll use similar tactics, close distance, force Makhmudov to work and tire the big man out before closing the show. Kabayal has already given us the blueprint and Makhmudov can’t take body shots.

My money is on Dave to pull off the upset on this one although to me the Makhmudov hype train has already been derailed so wouldn’t really consider it an upset albeit a decent win for Dave should that happen.

Should be a good fight but Allen wins this easy. Makhmudav lost he hype when he lost to Kabayel

Hope he doesn't gas out in the first few rounds from the stress. Makhmudov is slow as molasses, but his career is on the line, if he loses this it's over, so he will be dangerous.

There's a huge difference between Kabayel and Dave Allen.

But what a nutter Allen is, he sounds all over the place mentally. Love the line "well the houses on the other side of the street are nicer than my side" - too honest to be a real estate agent

"There's a huge difference between Kabayel and Dave Allen." Even that is an understatement! Kayabel could probably beat both on the same night, AND go dancing afterwards.

Dave Allen throws a nice overhand right but is pretty one dimensional, just ploughing forward, worryingly sometimes with his hands down. Makhmudov ain't all that but he he throws bombs - Allen has to respect the power.

It's a bit concerning that as a former ga mb ling addict he seems to be quite interested by the odds.

We've no real idea whether Big Mak is any good. He beat cab drivers and then lost when he stepped up. But his step up was a guy who it turns out is pretty good. I suspect that Allen is right when he says Mak is top 20 and a fair bit away from the top fighters.

No-one can dislike Allen. He's a troubled soul but a decent, honest bloke. I hope he gets the win and he's definitely better than he's shown. He can do it.

I just always have a horrible feeling that the Dave Allen story won't end well. I'd rather see him with his head sorted out than him being successful in the ring. Hopefully one leads to the other.
