The Heavyweight division is the flagship. Everyone else fights under the protection of weight caps; and as the saying goes, where the heavyweights go, so goes boxing.
Much credit goes to both Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley for not waiting around idle for Usyk to "recover". Usyk is the linial succession Heavyweight Champion, so he can do as he pleases without any impact from whatever "stripping" the alphabet crooks might do; and hopefully he'll be prepared to defend the crown against the Parker-Wardley winner in the spring; and then Kabayel or Itauma; should he have a thirst for joining the all-time greats which is still a WIP upon scholarly examination of his work.

Fans should get reacquainted with the idea that a fight between top 10 contenders doesn't need a phony "world title" belt at stake in order to be important (remember Ali-Frazier II or Foreman-Lyle?)

Lawrence Okolie, who realistically is ranked # 32, is the guy who they slipped in under the radar. We'll just have to wait and see what he can do.

When Mayweather was the face of boxing no one really cared about the heavyweights. Yet the sport was thriving.

Currently the heavyweight division has been deep and competitive but boxing is pretty dead. With Jake Paul circus fights being the biggest thing in the sport.
