Canelo vs Sheeraz next? Bud vs Janibek?

If you believe it's possible Canelo sold the belts to Turki and Bud for the $150m (entirely plausible - no rematch clause, no demands for rematch) then lt's evaluate Canelo's next move. WBC just installed him at no. 1 168, with Sheeraz at no. 2, it looks like Turki/WBC could be angling for a Canelo vs Sheeraz title fight, which could end up with Sheeraz being the first Pakistani/Brit to win a world title. I could see Canelo selling that fight too, he's clearly on the downside. This fight would be contingent on Bud vacating the 168 belts which is likely and there isn't anything appealing for him at 168 legacy-wise. Beating Canelo was everything.

Bud's map is less clear. It would seem natural for Bud to drop to 160 and collect more titles however that would involve extreme risk as the main man at 160 is a BEAST Janibek Alimkhanuly. The Qazaq Style could be the best fighter at the 160 168 range. Nobody knows how good he is because every marque name as avoided him, yet he still owns two 160 belts. It would be a very very bold move by Bud to challenge Janibek, who surely would be the toughest fight of his career. Bud is a throwback true great and he just might do it. But it's also possible Bud could suddenly turn soft and become a businessman after earning $50m and at age 37 38, choose the path of least resistance.

It will be intriguing to see how this plays out for Canelo and Crawford. One thing is for sure, the Canelo vs Crawford rematch is not what the boxing fans want and neither to either combatant apparently.

Yes that is the way it appears actually. No rematch clause, no demands for immediate rematch, happy photo with Bud and daughter in dressing room, the outcome Turki wanted. Canelo has had enough and now no pressure to face Benavidez.

Considering how overrated Canelo has been for the last few years and how hungry and ripe and overdue Janibek is for a big money superstar superfight, I actually believe it's a 5050 fight. If it's straight up on the level REAL fight without corruption or manipulation to favor the newly installed American face of boxing.

I can see Janibek rising to the occasion and putting on an electric superstar performance - if he's allowed to beat the newly installed American face of boxing.

OK then so it's a easy opportunity for Bud to quick grab two titles at 160. Janibek is probably the most avoided guy in boxing today. He's another Golovkin. Everybody on the inside, all the marquee names treat Janibek like he's a probable KO loss and so they all run the other way. I see Bud doing the same unfortunately. Just too high risk.

Postol was hungry, prime, and undefeated.
Gamboa was hungry, prime, and undefeated.

I'm sure you're going to nitpick that list away because nothing will ever be good enough for you. Gonna pretend Spence was crippled from that car wreck even though he easily disposed of Ugas and Danny G. Gonna pretend Gamboa was still at featherweight even though he fought at both 130 and 135 before Crawford fought him at 135. Gonna point out how Indongo finished his career rather than how he ended up a unified champion in the first place; he was simply never the same guy after back-to-back beatings from Crawford and Prograis.

And you probably don't even know who Postol is, because you're a casual, but at the time Crawford beat him he was the consensus #1 fighter at 140.
