Did Crawford vs Canelo kill boxing as the haters predicted?

Just imagine how many more would’ve enjoyed that fight had it started 10:00pm, even 11:00, on the east coast.
I do like the fact the DAZN fights from England come on Sat afternoon here.👍 1Comment

It got tens of millions of live viewers and drew a crowd of 70,000. The fight wasnt amazing but it was decent enough, and it solidified Crawford as an ATG. I dont see how it could be interpreted as anything but a massive plus for boxing.👍 1Comment

Since the card was in Vegas, I'm sure the start time was marketed towards those who partied and gambled afterwards.Comment

Some shocking things I'll say are that with all the fights, no knockouts or even a knockdown. That's a let down during these mega events. One of my buddies that came over to watch it ended up leaving before the main event because he just didn't want to get home so late as he had stuff to do early Sunday morning. He literally bounced right before the main event started but I didn't blame him. I was nearly falling asleep after being in food/booze coma, lol.
I spoke to a dude at my job whose normally an MMA guy and tuned it to watch it with his own buddies. They said they initially tuned in and saw an empty arena so they figure the main even didn't start it yet and turned it off, watched some other stuff. They kept tuning back in to see when the main was about to start and couldn't believe how late before it eventually did. Despite that, they watched it and found it highly entertaining which is a good thing considering they're not boxing fans first and the fight had no knockdowns/KO.
I'll say, the late start time is truly annoying. When folks are barely staying awake after all the prehype, it's terrible. Imagine if they actually did the national anthems? The fight probably would have ended around 3am, lol. We also thought it was nuts when a lot of rookies were facing each other in 10 rdrs instead of 8 or 6s. That was rough considering they went the distance. How Mbilli and Martinez not score at least a knockdown with like more than 1000 punches thrown is beyond me.Comment

As an MMA fan i'm really disappointed that the UFC didnt end up on Netflix. Its hard to overstate the kind of exposure it gives and how many people who dont normally watch will end up tuning in if they see it on there. I hear the WWE is doing very well from it too.
Its a big win for boxing, I just wish it was a regular thing rather than a few fights here and there.Comment
