Two elite P4P level fighters fighting and you got clowns like OP complaining.

Go watch women’s soccer then, boxing clearly isn’t for you.

I think we need to watch the fight to see how the general public will respond to it. Crawford is very explosive and Canelo is tough so it's a good match up on paper. I'll reiterate what everyone has been saying for the last few months. It depends on how Bud feels at his new weight. If he can move around gracefully then I expect a UD, because he's not going knock out Canelo imo.

It will be close decision. To increase the value and rep of BOTH. That's what business events do. My guess is close decision or draw, to set up rematch. This buys Canelo time and he can hope Benavidez loses and then he's home free to keep handpicking patsies for another three of four years. of more phony business events with hired opponents.

The "face off" lmao. I hope Jake wears lifts to be even taller than Tank.

Tank's forehead will be facing off with Jake's balls.

Do you really think all of those people deeply, and empathically cared about what was happening? No. A part of their character is entertained'.

Note: Boxing is a concentrated and refined form of competitive violence 'for 1000's of years, mankind has been intrigued by it as a spectacle. And this will most likely continue, because like I have just stated? Violence is a very fundamental and primordial part of our character'.

Also, people need to stop letting casual sports fans 'run their lives. Seriously? I could not care less what; a individual thinks who only has surface level interests in many subjects or a chosen sport. They are not completely irrelevant to the business of boxing, but to me personally? They are like those back ground characters on a computer game just going around and around'.

Take a look at society, those kinds of people will watch 'what they are told to watch'. And they may be entertained and inspired for a few short moments, then quickly phase out and be focusing on something else in their lives. So don't be too concerned with them'.

Those kinds of people, don't hold up any sort of business or sport over the long term 'it is the hardcore fans, and the actual boxers who maintain the sport. These are the facts of life. Because those types of people will put a much greater effort into following the sport, and learning about the history'.

Terrence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez 'is just one fight. This time next week, the large majority of people who watched the event 'most likely will not be thinking about it'.

I don't usually spend much time in these sorts of threads, I think the topic is banal. Most people really should agree with me on that point, you don't see no other sports criticising itself like this continually.

I wonder sometimes, what makes a person? Get up in the morning, and make these sort of statements? What is the actual process that is going on? From a to b? Or 1 to 10? Because you know this same thread, and statement has been said many times over. For years and decades'.

Mankind has kind of attempted to remove itself from nature 'and it has created a more civilized society. Now compared to 1000 years ago, the entertainments and interests of certain folk may have altered. We see this with social media, and the rise of more save and civilized sports like Soccer, Basketball, and Tennis'.

Combats sports and the fundamental raw athletic sports i.e Track and Field Athletics and the original Olympic sports. Those sports are echoes of the past, and what truly matters in nature. Which is? Can you fight and how great of an athlete are you'.

In my opinion boxing is doing fine, it has never not been doing fine 'throughout my entire life'.

So I don't know what certain folk want to save it from, and what are the aims of these initiatives? Boxing in reality is a competitive and very dangerous sport. As much as the sport wants to attract and promote itself to the masses, people must acknowledge and understand what the activity of boxing is. It is not a game'.

I personally don't think this fight is a bigger global boxing event than Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Uysk I & II or even Anthony Joshua vs anyone. Honestly. It will most likely get many observers in the same way; people watch new movie releases'.

But do those same people suddenly become film directors or actors? No. Because it takes a high level of consistency and work ethic. To pursue such ventures, just like in boxing. And the only people that are going to be game for that sort if lifestyle are hardcore boxing fans, aspiring amateur or professional boxers. And those sort of people don't just appear over night'.

To conclude: This is not the biggest fight Canelo Alvarez has been involved in 'his fight against Floyd Mayweather Junior was much bigger global event'. I rate this boxing event, as entertainment for the moment for many people. But then that moment will pass, and a large majority of those observers may move on to casually be interested in another sport. I am fine with that result'.

Because with certain demographics, this is how they behave every 4 years with the Olympics, every Soccer or Rugby World Cup. Everyone Grand Slam Tennis Tournament. The list can go on.

And I want to conclude by saying this? Those types of people, don't maintain and build any business or sport 'because what maintains and builds any sports. Is consistency, passion and work ethic, and it is only the hardcore boxing fans, amateur and professional fighters with their coaches who bring that sort of lifestyle and game' etc.

This is a very good post. The only thing I would like to challenge you on is the importance of so-called "hardcore" fans. Can you define what a "hardcore" boxing fan is please?

The reason I think this is relevant is that boxers who build strong followings often do so with the support of "casuals". Ricky Hatton is a prominent example but I would suggest most small hall local fighters are supported by "casuals" too.
