Canelo - Crawford will hurt boxing

Casuals and ordinary people will watch it and say: oh that is elite boxing? F.uck it, we are not missing anything.

If they wanted to promote sport, they should have had Fury-Usyk and Bivol - Beterbiev on netflix.

This is another variation of "boxing is dead" and we've already had one such thread this week.

These meta-narratives people create out of single events are rarely sustainable. Remember when DLH - Floyd was supposed to be the "fight to save boxing"?

Its an actual legitimate boxing match involving two currently active elite boxers (as opposed to Youtubers etc) and its on a massive platform, it can only help boxing.

You need big events to bring the casuals in. The Pac/Floyd fight brought the masses in but it was boring. Hopefully this fight brings some drama to captivate new fans.

              Extremely cynical.

This could turn out to be a great fight or one of them could put on a great performance.

Why not wait until the fight is over before declaring this?

Besides, the fights you suggested you already know how they turned out.

              Relax a bit dude.

It's pretty clear by now it will be a fake soft sparring BS event. Did you see the face off yesterday? Totally fake, Canelo even nodded when he wanted it to end because it was so phony boring, and then graciously shook his subservient business partner's hand. This fight is so fake the Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed 1 script would be more worthwhile watching.

If anybody thinks this fake business event has any chance to turning into Foreman Lyle or Hagler Hearns you are delusional. When phony fighters like these two business partners are making over $30m to spar do you think either is going to risk taking a head shot that could cause brain damage? Fake sparring is what you're getting. And that's a guarantee.

Max Kellerman is being revived to sell this fight. What sense does that make? Nobody ever liked him anyway when he was installed at ESPN and HBO because of his religion/politics. He never said one interesting comment as an analyst.
