****** ass article. Completely missing the boat on bad scoring. Not willing to go out on a limb & call out terrible judging or judges.

All boxing officiating are partial and biased. Especially the refereeing. They have their favorites and likes and dislikes.Comment

most judges know exactly who they want or have to get over the line especially in big fights and score accordingly, how often do u see close fights going to the 'b-side' lol, but it was a close fight, yeah but these close fights almost if not always go the same way, therefore they are not actually close at all just foregone conclusionsComment

This is a good premise for an article, but I wish there was more research and evidence done. Specifically, and I know I have harped on this before, I would love for someone to research and develop a database of fights (possibly AI supported) in which they track specific in round actions: specific punches thrown, relative force, landing conditions (location of the land, clean land, partial land, blocked, missed) relative ring location, etc. Then with this massive database of info you can cross reference it with how individual judges scored the round. This would allow us to develop a clearer picture of individual biases certain judges may have, or for those conspiracy theorists out there it would possibly give you the evidence you want. Regardless it would be a benefit to improving judging and tracking what exactly judges are looking for.
As an aside, home ring advantage is a very real thing. If anyone ever read "Scorecasting" it shows how the main advantage home teams in team sports get is through fan influence on officials. Officials are often swayed through crowd approval, and tend to favor the home team as such, and thats just for those team sports where officials just enforce rules, but not judge for victory (like boxing).Comment

I still feel the single most important thing that will help with crap judging is simply holding them accountable after the fight. Make the judges available after the fight to sit in front of reporters and be held accountable for what they scored. I would be in favor of even making them available pre-fight to discuss how they will judge.👍 2Comment
