Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. And proudly so, although I don't currently live in area.

The time for Boots, or anyone of his stature to fight in Harrisburg, or any small venue has long since gone. World class fighters fight on the world stage. But most fighters fight in smaller venues on their way up, not when they have reached world class level. After they have built the name and fan base, fans travel to the fighter. Future world champions are fighting in small venues right now, building a fan base. Since we are using ennis as an example, I looked at his fight record. his 1st 19ish, pro fights were held in small venue loctions. Fighters can only fight where promoters hold fights.

Penn State football is no comparison to boxing. Not only does it have a built in fan base of 90,000 which refreshes itself yearly, it's a part of the the NCAA football program. It's apples and oranges.

I think you over estimate the popularity of the UFC. Their fighters are not household names. They may be widely known in the combat community, but I'm pretty sure the average person would be hard pressed to name a division champion, let alone an unranked fighter.

Harrisburg may be the capital, but Philadelphia is Pennsylvania. Put yourself in a promoter's shoes: are you going to use your resources to put on a fight card in the 9th most populous city, or the MOST populous city? It's your money, you want a return on your money as well as mimimizing your risk. Which location do you choose?

Everything you described is already happening, I just don't think you are looking for it. There's already local and regional amature fight/ champions. Beginning professionals are already fighting in small town venues. You could have watched Boot's 19th fight in the Norfolk, Masonic Temple, with a whopping capcity of 439.
Why would I drive to Norfolk? That has no marketing business sense at all. Norfolk isn't in Pennsylvania. Harrisburg is actually in Pennsylvania. Thats my point.

Boots isnt even a big fighter. Hes not well known. Hes definitely not more known than other fighers that used to fight in smaller venues. I am from Connecticut and we have two casinos in small towns. In that one casino I got to see way bigger names than Boots. I got to GGG live and many others. If you think Eddie hearns is marketing Boots to his full potential then thats fine. We can agree to disagree.

But I will be right here giving my opinion on American boxing. You can continue to stay on a sinking ship because boxing will be dead in America across many more division besides light heavyweight, cruiser weight, heavyweight and super middleweight. Its going to get to the point when we will probably only have a handful of champions. I give it until 2035 unless dana white can tap into a grass roots program like what i am suggesting or a bare knuckle thing.

You from Philly right. BKFC sells out in Philly! I see way more casual average Americans following bare knuckle then regular boxing.

So where do you live then ???? You keep saying Harrisburg aint nothing. There's only a few cities in Pennsylvania. Unless you live out in the boondocks or a suburb of Philly.

I wasn't clear in my point, Norfolk was just an example of a small venue where boots fought on his way up. The same way many fighters do. I wasn't suggesting that you should have driven to VA.

It's a free forum, you have every opporunity to post your opinion on American boxing. I don't have a dog in the fight. I like good fights and good fighters, wherever they are from. If they are American, all the better! But I don't have a financial stake in it so it doesn't matter to me.

It doesn't matter where I live now, lol. It's bigger than Harrisburg, smaller than philly, and not in Pennsylvania. But, I'm very familar with PA. I'm not knocking Harrisburg, it is what it is. I'm just making a comparison.

Omg. So you dont even live in Pennsylvania but now you are talking down on Harrisburg lol. You can't make this up. I knew it. I knew you didn't live currently in Pennsylvania. I can't come out and call you a lair saying you not from Philly but I knew you didn't still live in Pennsylvania. Do you know how different central Pennsylvania is now from back in the day. I just got here and theres so Many people from New York its like a home coming for me. Then we just got a wave of Africans that just flooded in. This is good market to promote and only 80 miles from Baltimore. I actually work in Baltimore. Idk y you are being so secretive about where you currently live but ok. Enjoy your day.

Lol. You know I still have family and friends in pennsylvania right? I lived there for 40 years. I think I'm qulified to speak on the state. The population of philly is 30 times the popluation of harrisburg. I'm not knocking it, just stating facts.

I admire your conviction, harrisburg is in good hands with you. I look forward to you building the local fight scene. (at least you acknowledge i'm american now, lol)

You're too naive to believe that nonsense (no promoters). Although boxing is seen as an individual sport, it is actually a team sport. You're a nobody in the sport without a trainer, manager, promoter, cutman, waterboy, even if you're doing your sparring for free. It's no different from having an agent when looking for a job. Boxers can't do everything all by themselves.

That wasn't my argument. So now you are lying on me. Its okay.

Oh yeah. I definitely know you are American now cuz you are making false claims. An European would have decency but you keep assuming stuff and painting a false narrative. Just like you brought up the European boxer back on your first post to me, when my title only Americans.

What's your racial background friend ? Let's see if you want to side type this question too.

I stated this. You dont have reading comprehension or your slow. The state would be the boxers promoters and managers when they are in the state rankings. I clearly stated this twice. The state would handle all aspects of the fighters on the state level.

Once a fighter becomes a regional champion. He would manage any aspect of their careers outside of his mandatories. If the regional champion has two mandatories against the state champions. The state would front the fight and promote the fight because they are representing their fighters in my breakdown.

Fortunately that's a dying era that's almost completely over.

Once the Klitschko brothers took over boxing was rejuvenated with a much needed breath of fresh air. Now we have classy and intelligent heavyweight champions like The Klitschko brothers, Usyk, and Tyson Fury. Before we had sub-human heavyweight champions like Tyson, Bowe, Moorer, steroids Holyfield, that spent more time in court than they did in the ring.
Wait wait. Are you saying black heavyweights are thugs and White Europeans are angels ? Larry Holmes, Foreman, Mercer are not thugs and

Tyson Fury was a drug addicted drunk.

Tyson , Moorer and Bowe are all from the projects. They are products of their environment. Thats apples to oranges. I would say boxing probably stopped most of them from becoming murders or worst in life.

Now we are on the topic of Americans. Why hasn't America produced a decent high IQ white American heavyweight then ?

The boxing bill that McCain was trying to pass years back needs to be revived.
