The last intelligent heavyweight from America was Tommy Morrison. Before that, Gerry Cooney. But the media is never fair to white heavyweights so that in itself is a deterrent from attracting American white heavyweights to boxing.

Interesting. I would think white heavyweights after Marciano have gotten the benefit of the doubt than other non white heavyweights outside of Tyson. Morrison and Cooney are actually grear examples of this because both of them weren't really ready to challenge the legit heavyweights of their Era. Tommy was on drugs and later got sick and hid it and Gerry raised to the top faster due to his complexion and beating up old black fighters.

However. i do think America does need and probably want a great white hope again either in boxing or UFC. They deserve to have a champion that looks like them. No shame in that but they gotta be legit. Kinda like Kelly Pavlik. Kelly was legit but he was a drunk and headed that was his down fall but he had the skills against certain styles.

One of your foundation pricinples was how harriburg is a legitimate site. You were the one who cited the staisitcs for harrisburg and why it would make sense for Boot (your example fighter) to fight in Harrisburg/ central PA. I countered your arguement by citing philadelphia's statisitcs and why it wouldn't make sense for a fighter of world class level to fight in harriburg. I also cited how fighters often fight in smaller venues on their way to the top, not when they reach the top. I cited Boots fighting at a small venue in VA as an example. The walls of gyms in philadelphia were always plastered with fight posters of bouts at small venues. One of your foundation pricinples was how harriburg is a legitimate site.

Since you recently moved to Harrisburg, i'd say that I'm more qualifiedthan you to speak on pennsylvania having lived there for 40 years. I have family there, friends there and grandkids there. I return several times a year. I've boxed there and I've boxed in Carlise. ( loooong time ago).
