He came back after a 21 months retirement. And he schooled then pound for pound number 2 Juan Manuel Marquez. I think it's one of Mayweather's best win

Was a great performance, but JMM wasn’t a threat to Floyd at all. Didn’t have the size or style to trouble him. I think his wins over Canelo, Cotto, Pacquiao etc were much more impressive. Just my take on it.real raw

to be hoenst, jmm was never really THAT good, he just has the perfect style for manny and since pacman was so dominate at that time, it made marquez look like he was a lot better than he really is.... but when jmm fought against other great fighters, he was nothing special... i mean just look at his fight against tim bradley LOL.IAmABoxingGuru likes this.

JMM played soft, he didn't go after Floyd with any bad intentions or vicious aggression. He just stood there and patty caked with the franchise. This was a very suspect "fight." The biggest payday of JMM's career too.
JMM went after Pac with bad intentions. Here vs pitter patter Floyd, JMM played patty cakes.

It wasn't that good. They had a catch weight of 144lbs which was to help Marquez since he was still 135lbs. He was only able to get up to 142lbs at that time. Yet that didn't matter to Floyd as he didn't even make the weight. He weighted 146lbs. So you got a guy who came in bigger against an untested guy at 144lbs. Marquez had hip fat... There was zero surprise that he was going to win...
At the point of Marquez facing Pac at 147lbs, he was SHREDDED. Whatever it took to get that, but at least you know now that he was ready for that weight class. I'm not saying a 147lbs shredded Marquez would have beat Floyd either, but it would of been a hella lot more impressive.
Floyd basically did what Ryan Garcia did to Haney, except hopefully without the roids.Grandma Lover likes this.

Me I thought it was garbage from its inception to the outcome.
Instead of coming back after a 2 year layoff watching all the welterweights beat up on each other, instead of fighting a welterweight, Floyd cherrypicks a lightweight.
To add insult to injury, he welches on the contracted catchweight of 144 lbs.
Who knows what he weighed fight night but he looked like a middleweight while Marquez was stuck in the mud. Marquez said it felt like a 15 lb weight advantage.
Floyd ran and boxed from a safe distance for 12 boring rounds aka masterclass.
Needless to say Marquez was the start of Floyds cherrypicking career at welterweight. Got off to a real ****.
