Ali beat 7 HOF’ers and we’re talking absolute legends too. Frazier x2, Foreman, Liston x2, Norton x2, Patterson x2, Foster, Moore. Usyk probably has 2 on the resume in Fury and AJ.

Ali also held the lineal HW title 3 times, reclaiming it for a second time nearly a decade after his first reign began, after having over 3 years of his prime taken from him. Foreman was expected to absolutely murder him too. I think people forget how big of an upset that was. It would be like Wilder beating Usyk- unthinkable.

The overall impact Ali had on boxing and the world in general was astronomical too.

I won’t downplay Usyk’s achievements at all. Incredible run at Cruiserweight, unified the titles in his opponents backyards, then essentially done the same up at Heavyweight. 3x Undisputed Champion and undoubtedly a modern great but putting him above Ali is madness IMO. It’s simply recency bias or people who do not actually know what they’re talking about.

So why did you make a thread comparing the two? Moron lmao.

Could Usyk beat Ali? Yeah. But I don't think anybody beats the breaks off of pre suspension Ali- late 60s Ali moved too well to get the breaks beaten off of him.

More of a figure of speech to be fair. Probably not my best use of words but I think usyk does beat him .

Ali is way before my time, so I'm using Box-Rec for everything I'm about to say. It appears like Ali was an average sized HW for his day. The height range of Ali's resume ranges from 5'10 to 6'6, meanwhile the weight range was 177-256lbs. It was rare for Ali to find himself at a drastic height or weight disadvantage (i.e. Ernie Terrell was billed at 6'6 but doesn't look taller during the fight, and Buster Mathis weighed-in at 256lbs). I agree that younger Ali would've been able to make today's CW's limit. However, Ali was an average-sized HW who was typically fighting shorter or other average-sized HWs. Ali and Usyk have similar physical dimensions.

Boxing used to have good knowledgeable fans, but now it's the social media era and sensationalism is just out of control.

Boxing fans now are similar to UFC fans, you know how in UFC there's a new "GOAT" every 5 minutes?

That's what boxing is like now.

Oh yeah, it would have been a heck of a matchup, both quick and speedy type guys. I think its Ali trying to pop and pepper Usyk while moving and moving until he likes his opening to sit down on punches now and then- similar to the Williams fight. Usyk plays the cat in this one and tries to corner Ali where he can combo him up a bit. Usyk definitely has the speed and the reflexes to do it, so its really a high speed chess match.

I said you can acknowledge the official result if you want, but using those two fights to argue in Canelo's favor just make you look like a clown that didn't watch the fights. Like someone using the Khan fight to try to prop up Lamont Peterson. It's just a sad joke and it weakens your argument.
So why did you have an issue with Norton being listed then? As all I was doing was acknowledging the official result.

Honestly man, you are so desperate for confrontation on here, it’s pretty sad tbh.

He is incredibly desperate to be right. He’ll randomly try to start an argument over the most pedantic pf subjects just to try and “prove somebody wrong”. I don’t actually mind the dude and think he generally talks sense but he needs to stop that sort of BS.
