  • Comments Thread For: Artur Beterbiev asks Dmitry Bivol of a trilogy bout: ?How old do I have to be??

Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol have already combined to stage two hugely important light heavyweight unification bouts, and now a trilogy fight seems to be materializing ? just not fast enough for Beterbiev.

Could it be that those 2 fights took more out of Bivol than the older Beterbiev?

I'd say that's the most Bivol has ever been hit, even considering a lot of the hits were on (and admittedly through) the gloves. Beterbiev may very well be Wolverine.

I have to agree with Artur on this one, but I really think it's Weasel Eddie who is stalling. The third fight is likely Beterbiev's last.

I don't think it is Bivol that is delaying / postponing this fight. He strikes me as a straight talking, no-nonsense kind of guy who believes in his skills and is not afraid of fighting anyone. It has to be the managers promoters with conflicting agendas maybe trying to extract some extra money for the third fight???

This is possibly true. The turning point on the rematch was when Bivol gained back his composure after middle rounds and start winning more rounds. 12th round however was a surviving mode and Beterbiev landed a right hook that cut Bivol badly, something that he has never experienced before. So if third fight ever happen, both men know what to expect, it's just more unpleasant for Bivol. Doesn't mean Bivol can win, absolutely he can, but navigating through the punishment again is a risky business. For Beterbiev the challenge is similar, how to land cleanly more and getting hit less

Clearly Bivol has been doing this since 2019.

2 great fights by 2 Hall of Fame worthy fighters. Both fights had the exact same scores for their winners: 116-112, 115-113, 114-114. Both fights had 4-6 rounds that could have been argued for either fighter. Both men own one loss in their careers: to each other. Both have been undisputed. The only real difference?

Bivol can fight at this level for multiple years, Beterbiev will never be a better boxer than he is right now. It is very, very important to Beterbiev that if there is a rubber match, it happens immediately.. Bivol does not "need" it to be next. Now I do not think Bivol is planning to avoid the trilogy, but it is not like he hasn't already shown he can win or anything. All I am saying is his plans may not be the exact same plans of Beterbiev.

That’s funny, because the WBC explicitly said they would not sanction a defense/unification against Bivol because he is Russian. Bivol actually pushed for the fight.

You might say it was the exact opposite of what you’re saying?
