I think even Rodriguez’ grandma Forgot who he was. If I wanted to, I could open up my boxrec and claim I’ve sat my fat ass on the couch for years and watched every fight in the welter weight division for the last 20 years and you could never find out whether I was bullshítting or not.

It just shows how much of a casual you are that you can't believe other boxing fans would watch Junto Nakatani, Kazuto Ioka, Donnie Nietes, and Chocolatito fights. The Nakatani fight wasn't even that long ago, It was on the undercard of a Teraji unification fight. Which, again, you would know if you watched boxing.

You literally can't believe people who regularly watch these weight classes might actually remember a former unified champion.

Why do you think they picked Rodriguez in the first place? They picked him because people know who he is.

Boxingrec has completely altered how people rate boxers these days.
*I'm not talking about those who actually follow/watch fights (especially lowerweights in japan, mexico, etc.).

I'm talking about the so called "casuals", who act they they know what they're talking about,
but in reality have no knowledge, but base everything on the "star ratings" on boxingrec.

You can immediately tell who they are.
And to be honest, it's pointless having an intelligent debate.

You’re sounding pretty silly dude, who hasn’t seen those fighters? I may not watch all the fights but I’m pretty sure you’re more casual than me because I’ve actually boxed and know my way inside those ropes, as opposed to just plumping myself in front of the tv.

So, once again, you don't watch boxing and you got caught exposing that fact to the world. Then you doubled down on that.

Sorry if it was intended to be sarcasm on your end as well, but I think the point was that the mentioned Junto Nakatani, Kazuto Ioka, Donnie Nietes, and Chocolatito all fought Rodriguez so people who watched them fight also likely knows of Rodriguez regardless of the result.

Wrong again dudeio, I watch plenty of boxing. Not remembering who Rodriguez was or reading up on it before watching the fight is not grounds for claiming that somebody doesn’t know anything. You must be a real joy in a party, spewing all your ‘knowledge’ and trying to be better than everyone else.

You're the guy who called a unified champion "unknown" and then got defensive when someone pointed out how silly that is.

You generalize too much bud. Junto Nakatani, Kazuto Ioka, Donnie Nietes, and Chocolatito all have beat scores of people, and you think everyone remembers all their fights and the names of everyone they beat? I for one have followed Chocolatito his whole career and didn’t remember Rodriguez. However the point I made about Rodriguez having been underestimated still stands.

Not remembering the Chocolatito fight from over a decade ago is understandable but the most recent Nakatani fight was in the end of 2022, less than three years ago. Random examples but even if it wasn't a "huge" fight with a lot of meaning, people remember that Canelo has fought Callum Smith or Crawford fought David Avanesyan or that Tank fought Leo Santa Cruz in the past.

Yafai and Hearns underestimated Rodriguez for sure, but the reason they underestimated him was not because Rodriguez was unknown or because they didn't have much knowledge available about him. Fully knowing what Rodriguez was, they just overrated Yafai's skills or thought Rodriguez was more shot than he was given his record (which most of the losses were to known names like the aforementioned above). I also think Eddie should stop trying to match Brits who hasn't been tested much with legit foreign fighter with power.
