‘I could retire tomorrow a happy man’

    Ruh Roh.
Mentally got one foot out the door, do ya Josh Taylor?
If he's not all-in, at 34, I don't think he can get back to the top.

Everyone that say this: ‘I could retire tomorrow a happy man’ normally not always, but usually get their ass kicked!

Taylor has been going downhill for years, this may be the nail on the coffin for him. And it seems he is understanding that. When a boxer talks about retirement like that, it means he is coming to terms with the end of his career. Having that in your mind clearly affects you when you get into a ring, where you will usually need an insatiable drive and will to win. Once you're satiated, the end is very near.

I would not put money on Taylor if I were betting, folks.

OTOH, I agree with the comments, they don’t exactly sound like he is a hungry fighter. OTOH, Taylor is or has been v talented & he has been tight at the weight for about 4 years. He really should’ve moved up years ago. Either way, Ekow Essumann is the perfect opponent to see if Taylor has more to give at 147.

Essuman is 36, doesn't have a lot of power and has only fought domestic level opposition. If Taylor can't beat him convincingly, then he should just hang em up for good.

Its hard for me to envision Taylor having fallen this far.
He has a guy here who is old, arguably declining himself who can't punch and leaves himself wide open.

I thought Taylor looked a lot, lot better on the scales. I've always had a bit of a gripe with Taylor even in his prime not putting guys away and making hard work of everything but I see no reason he shouldn't look rejuvenated here.

I don't think Essuman has any advantages and he's open for Taylors best punches in particular the right hook as Essuman throws that horrible, wide, slapping left hook.
He barely got past Vaughn who is domestic level and a seriously poor version of Taylor
