What a great hypothetical? It doesn't matter how fast Usyk is, being the superior boxer, a southpaw, his amateur pedigree or whatever. If Deontay connects with at least one good punch the fight will be over in an instant.

The question is could Usyk box a perfect and an entire fight without getting hit and avoiding Wilder's power? A prime Deontay Wilder was athletic as Hell. If the answer is yes, then he would win.

If the answer is no, then he won't. Usyk is hittable and no opponent Usyk has faced thus far in his career has punched as hard as a prime Deontay Wilder which are facts!!!

Wilder has a few things going against him in this discussion. First, he is currently is the decline stage at the end of his career, so its easy to pile on and act as if the fighter he has been over the last few years is the fighter he has always been- and that its only now that he has truly been exposed. Happens all the time.
Secondly, this is a boxing fan site- so you will have so many experts here who favor boxers that win with skill and technique- because you are all so well versed in skill and technique you favor it to great extents and sometimes ignore other aspects.

That being written, Wilder when at his best was more than just a great right hand. He also had amazing range and solid athleticism- which he used to his advantage. At his best Wilder would scurry back out of range from fighters before they could hit him when he didnt want to engage. And since his range was greater than his opponents, it gave him an advantage. He would back off and keep the distance where he wanted it to be, forcing you to go through his right hand at range (keep in mind, this was younger Wilder). This was why Fury was such a problem for him- Fury's range was greater than Wilders.

Now, thats not to write I'd favor Wilder over Usyk. Usyk is an all time great, who was able to catch a lot of bigger fighters (though I think a younger Fury may have done better than the one we saw). I would still favor Usyk over Wilder, but certainly not to the extent of a whitewash 10 times out if 10. I would give Wilder a 20-30% chance of landing a bomb on Usyk and putting him down for the count.

However, i think the fights themselves wouldnt be too exciting. Mostly Wilder on the backfoot waiting for that one punch, and Usyk cautiously closing in and scoring now and then.

Today's Wilder wouldn't stand a chance. The Deontay Wilder of eight years ago would have knocked Usyk spark out.

I think Wilder's one-dimensional style would betray him. Yes, if he could just land that one big shot, he'd likely KO Usyk. The question is, would Usyk lose focus enough to let him land it? Probably not.

Wilder only has to land 1 punch and usyk is ko'd. Over 12 rounds wilder is bound to land 1 punch. In other words usyk has 0 chance
