As to the sidebar discussion about the status and global influence of The United States of America; I'm inclined to recuse myself, except to point out that only about 4-6% of the enslaved Africans transported across the Atlantic during the transatlantic slave trade arrived in North America. The vast majority were sent to Brazil and the Caribbean. This means about 388,000 out of an estimated 12 million people were sent to North America. That, was a European thing. Not an American thing so much.


Beyond that stunning fact; I can only add electricity, flight, the phonograph, the computer, the internet, GPS, the lightbulb, digital visual interface, flight, refrigeration, the polio vaccine, pressure canning, data storage, the telegraph, anesthesia, steelmaking, asphalt, reinforced concrete, vulcanized rubber, the sewing machine, the cotton gin, the manufacturing assembly line, interplanetary space travel, the telephone, radio, the transistor, air conditioning, germ theory, oil drilling, oil refining, recorded sound, the steam turbine and, well.....most everything significant that separates modern man from **** neanderthalensis (Neanderthals) and **** heidelbergensis.

Actually, my own opinion has to do with my own experiences. You can only go so far alone... In a business you need cooperation and delegation, contribution to really break it out. Murica is what she is because of our immigration policy, as stated, when it is adhered to properly: We are a melting pot where immigrants come contribute their ways and also become proudly Muricans. So we get all the wonderful ways of the man y immigrants to add to our history and traditions. Most countries are too insular with immigration policy, they encourage people to retain their ways with no real obligation to become a citizen otherwise. Like Canada for example which has a "patchwork" policy, where every group retains its ways as part of a whole... Not Murica! The best immigrants want to do both: hold and share their sacred traditions to make the whole better.

One cannot trivialize how important this point is. I grew up with two very smart, well educated parents who protested our wars. My mother had no skin in the game... no son of draft age for the Vietnam war but would tote me on her back to war demonstrations, supporting youn g mothers with kids of draft age... I still believe that these wars were horrid. My dad was a Marine second world war who saw action... I was taught to love and respect veterans and that our job was to protest to protect them, never to recriminate any decision a young person made...

Years later and I have two sons, one is a Marine the other is very high level Army Intelligence (George Carlin: "If there is such an oxymoron"), He cannot even tell me and his mother where he is..., but given the way the world has changed? I really feel like we have to be aggressive. I really saw no conflict when my two boys wanted to act, I mean they got their educations (One is a college graduate, the other doing college)... Which was my one request. Theworld has changed and it tells any reasonable person that Murica's imperalism is a lot better option than P utin or Ji...

People HAVE to understand that both countries, unless they change leadership, are hell bent on our destruction. It gets worse the further the rabbit hole ascends, but if China ever attained a high standard of living for her entire population, the world would crater. It is sad...Now imagine India as well. Unfortunately until we can all cooperate and make the world great for all, America is a resource of great value.

Technically speaking the irony is, guys that seem to "just touch" the opponent on a KO are usually heavy handed hitters, like Foreman. Tyson and Wilder both have real explosive speed and manage the same effect.
