Stop pivoting to something not relevant to the post made. Thurman didn’t unify in the ring. He got elevated.
Thurman barely beat Danny then didn’t fight for almost 2 years.
During that time Crawford won the WBO title moving up and defended it 2x. Spence won the IBF title and defended it 2 or 3 times.
Thurman was never the best ww in the world at any point. Stop pretending he was just to try and make Manny’s win over him better.

It made all the sense in the world for Manny to fight Thurman. Thurman was the best and most complete ww, plus he was universally recognized as the guy to beat at ww. Plus he was far more marketable than Crawford. He beat Crawford and will be carrying the whole promotion. He beat Crawford and still will go into debt
Oh right yeah it "didn't make sense" for Pacquaio to fight Crawford who was P4P #2 at the time and WW #2 at the time but it did make sense to fight Thurman who hadn't beaten a ranked fighter in 28 months, was #3 at WW and wasn't even in the P4P list (and never has been)
