Comments Thread For: Daily Bread Mailbag: Why Keith Thurman can win another world belt; identifying the best punches of the best fighters

The one and only Stephen ?Breadman? Edwards is back and in the mood for debate. Here, in typically unmissable fare, he looks into the future of Keith Thurman, responds to criticism for his view on the Chavez-Taylor stoppage, details his current pound-for-pound rankings and identifies the best punches in the lockers of the best fighters

I agree with Bread on almost every take he gives, but not on Chavez v Taylor. Meldrick was all hand speed and heart. It left the most obvious visual impression. But he was getting beaten up in every round. Watch it again, slow it down if you can. Chavez even did a great job slipping punches. If Steele was in on something I’m glad he was because, as impressive as Taylor had been, Chavez had proven unequivocally that he was the better man and ‘Taylor W12 Chavez’ would have had one hell of an asterisk next to it.

Whitaker and Randall really did get robbed though.

P4P too Americentric for positions 6-10. At what point does a poor recent resume outweigh a great earlier resume? This is the case with Canelo. Now he is fighting Scull he should no longer be in anyone's top ten. If he smashes Crawford then he can come back in at #8-10. But out for time being.

Why would Olascagua be in and Teraji not? Oh yeah, that's because he is American. But then he lost to Teraji by KO.

imo Teraji has done more for longer than Bam or Nakatani.

Similar with Canelo and his lack of resume why do we give so much credit to unproven fighters? Ennis and Tank have weak resumes, esp Ennis. Yes they may have all the talent in the world on paper but so does Andy Cruz and he never gets a mention.

With Stevenson it's different. He's a legitimate 3 weight world champion and even though his style stinks compared to Boots and Tank, he certainly has the results.

Will somebody please get this man a crying towel ?!!!? What the actual hel_ ! Why doesn't Stale Bread just write an entire book whining about Chavez-Taylor ? What I know is Chavez went to the After Party.Taylor went to the hospital and was never the same.

Bam has a great resume and is on great recent form.

No way should Teraji be ranked over him.

I generally like Bread but he does talk rubbish about Meldrick v JCC. The TV commentary was absurdly biased but watch the fight with the sound off. I had Meldrick leading by 2 points going into the 12th. Bread saying it was 108:101 is ridiculous

Shoulder Roll you’re a schmuck. No intelligent parent would ever encourage their child to fight on the street. What if the other kid pulled a knife? What if the cops turn up and arrest them both! You don’t care that your kid will grow up with a criminal record? I’ve heard of parents taking their child to the gym because they liked fighting and it was better they did it ‘legit’ than on the streets. Until you I’ve never heard of someone actually encouraging their child to fight on the street. That is bizarre
