Martin ducked Santos, according to EDLS himself. He was waiting for his next fight after his big win against Valenzuela, but no offer was coming from Frank and Pitbull, who were both available.

I think that Turki/Dana will just end up buying the various rival promoters e.g. Matchroom, Top Rank etc just like Dana did with Pride & Strikeforce in the UFC. However, I think that will be their LAST move after signing all the promising talent to back them into a corner and lower the price.

It is a very frustrating typical story in the American boxing scene, even when boxers are in the same side of the street. Why Martin vs De Los Santos can't be made despite they're being both available is beyond comprehension.

Yeah, it's depressing. Fans should at least have a slice of press coverage about this, who is avoiding who, why no attempt of it getting made, who is ducking who, whether there was any offer made, nothing. No media coverage, nothing. It's as if Martin and Santos never existed. Santos' viral fight with Rayo as a last minute replacement just became a pigment of imagination. Nothing big came again for Santos except an offer from TR, a rival promoter.

Both had viral fights, if you call it that. Martin had Michel Rivera, the fight he gained some fans with.

Seems Delos Santos vs Frank Martin can only be made by Turki promotions as undercard in one of his events. I'm not seeing it in PBC's radar.

Seems no one is interested. No wonder the list of names in the sport is shrinking.

What is shrinking is the shelf life of today's boxers. I mean these are not 40 yr olds we're talking about. These are young folks with only 1 and 2 loses.

It shouldn't be a big deal. Top level boxers who have lost fights often grow in popularity through showing some vulnerability and having a chance to overcome some adversity.

Rematches tend to do very well too.

Lewis v Rahman wasn't a mega fight. No-one thought Rahman was a chance. The rematch was massive - we knew Rahman could hurt Lewis and everything was riding on the outcome.

It leaves question marks if you lose and just stop. Think of Naseem Hamed's standing in the sport.

But given that they already earn plenty of money then I can understand fighters not taking too many chances. An unfortunate outcome of them being paid very well at the top level.
